Monitoring activity done today by PBSP and NTP City Health Office-Tacloban City for the implementation of TB-HIV Collaboration in CHD-Eastern Visayas.

We continue to work together to enhance the services for TB clients by providing counseling and testing for HIV.

Orientation on m-PIMA HIV 1/2 Viral Load equipment held yesterday October 6, 2022 @ Divine Word Hospital SB 4th floor hall attended by members of Divine Word Hospital HIV Treatment Hub (HACT) composed of HIV proficient medical technologists, HIV counselors, nurse and product specialist/representative from Abbott Laboratories.

The DWH HACT facility will soon be ready to serve our HIV clients by making the HIV Viral Load test accessible which is one essential part of monitoring the treatment and management of care.

The aim of HIV Viral Load Test is for the clients to be virally suppressed following compliance to antiretroviral therapy. With that,
the goal of "UNDETECTABLE=UNTRANSMITTABLE" (U=U) is achieved. People living with HIV cannot pass the infection when they have undetectable levels of the virus.

Earlier today, one of our patients has GOOD NEWS! His CD4 count improved and Viral Load is NOT DETECTED.

What does NOT DETECTED Viral Load mean?
It means that the load of HIV in the patient's blood is so low that it cannot be detected by the test. The HIV medication or the ANTIRETROVIRAL (ARV) THERAPY effectively treats PLHIVs.

To maintain a NOT DETECTED status, ADHERENCE and COMPLIANCE to HIV medication are very important.

UNDETECTABLE = UNTRANSMITTABLE (U=U)

There is still no cure for HIV. But Antiretroviral Therapy is LIFE-SAVING. 🙏

As we prioritize leading the COVID-19 response, we must at the same time invest in communities to end the HIV epidemic everywhere.

World AIDS Day is celebrated annually on December 1st. We remember those who have died from the disease. We honor the ones who fight bravely - the People Living with HIV (PLHIV).

Let us END the STIGMA. They are HUMANS and they deserve to LIVE and be HEARD.

Fight HIV/AIDS, not the person with HIV/AIDS.
