TACLOBAN CITY, August 20, 2025. The Eastern Visayas Medical Center proudly announces a historic milestone for the region's healthcare system: its first-ever successful multiple organ donation and retrieval procedure. This landmark event, which took place on August 19, 2025, marks a new chapter in the pursuit of life-saving medical interventions in Eastern Visayas.

This remarkable act of generosity, even in the face of profound grief, will grant new hope and a renewed lease on life to individuals suffering from end-stage renal disease, liver disease and corneal blindness.
This achievement is a testament to the power of human compassion. The donor's ultimate act of kindness and the family's courageous decision to donate their loved one's organs highlight a profound sense of altruism.

The EVMC family extends its deepest gratitude and admiration to the donor and their family for this invaluable gift. Their selflessness is an inspiration to us all and a shining example of the Filipino spirit of "bayanihan"—of being a hero to a fellow person.

The success of this delicate and complex procedure was the result of a coordinated effort by a dedicated team of healthcare professionals. EVMC would like to acknowledge and thank everyone who was instrumental in making this a reality:
