Ngayong March 4, nakikiisa ang Eastern Visayas Medical Center sa paggunita ng World Obesity Day, isang mahalagang paalala na ang obesity ay isang seryosong kondisyon na maaaring makaapekto sa kabuuang kalusugan at kalidad ng buhay.

Ang obesity ay hindi lamang usapin ng itsura o timbang. Ito ay may kaugnayan sa iba’t ibang komplikasyon tulad ng diabetes, sakit sa puso, at high blood pressure—mga kondisyong maaaring maiwasan sa pamamagitan ng tamang kaalaman at disiplina sa pangangalaga sa sarili.

Narito ang ilang hakbang tungo sa mas malusog na pamumuhay:
🥗 Piliin ang tama at balanseng nutrisyon
🏃‍♂️ Maglaan ng oras para sa regular na ehersisyo
💧 Uminom ng sapat na tubig araw-araw
😴 Siguraduhing may sapat na pahinga
👩‍⚕️ Kumonsulta sa healthcare professionals para sa tamang gabay

Ang pagbabago ay nagsisimula sa maliliit na hakbang. Sa tamang nutrisyon, aktibong pamumuhay, at sapat na kaalaman, maiiwasan ang mga komplikasyon at mapapanatili ang isang mas malusog na pangangatawan.

Ngayong March 3, nakikiisa ang Eastern Visayas Medical Center sa pagdiriwang ng International Ear Care Day, na naglalayong itaas ang kamalayan tungkol sa kahalagahan ng tamang pangangalaga sa ating pandinig.

Narito ang ilang simpleng paalala para mapanatiling malusog ang iyong tenga:
🔊 Iwasan ang sobrang lakas na tunog, lalo na kapag gumagamit ng earphones o nasa maingay na kapaligiran
🧼 Panatilihing malinis ang tainga, iwasan ang pagpasok ng matutulis o hindi angkop na bagay
👩‍⚕️ Magpatingin agad sa espesyalista kung may nararamdamang pananakit, pangangati, o paghina ng pandinig

Ang pangangalaga sa pandinig ay hindi lamang tungkol sa pag-iwas sa sakit—ito ay tungkol sa pagpapanatili ng malinaw na komunikasyon, mas ligtas na kapaligiran, at mas mataas na kalidad ng buhay.

Sama-sama nating pahalagahan ang ating pandinig—dahil mas masarap makinig, makausap, at makaranas ng mundo nang malinaw. 💙

In line with the observance of the National Awareness Week for the Prevention of Sexual Abuse and Exploitation, a meaningful lay forum was successfully conducted last February 13, 2026, highlighting the importance of awareness, vigilance, and collective action in safeguarding individuals—especially the most vulnerable sectors of our community.

The session was led by the Public Health Unit in coordination with the Women and Children Protection Unit (WCPU), with Ms. Marithel N. Amoyan, SWO I as the resource person. Through this initiative, participants were equipped with knowledge and empowered to become advocates for protection and support.

Together, let us continue to build safe spaces for children where dignity is upheld, voices are heard, and every individual is protected.

Nais ipagbigay-alam ng Eastern Visayas Medical Center (EVMC) sa publiko at sa mga healthcare facilities dito sa rehiyon na sa ngayon, February 24, 2026, ang ating Emergency Room ay lumampas na sa kapasidad nito.

Upang mapangalagaan ang kapakanan ng bawat pasyente, ipinapaalala po namin na kung maaari, mga tertiary cases lamang, o mga kasong nangangailangan ng agarang atensyong medikal na hindi kayang tugunan ng mga lokal na healthcare facilities—ang i-refer sa EVMC sa ngayon.

Kung sakaling dumami pa ang mga pasyente, maaaring maghintay muna ang mga ire-refer na pasyente sa kanilang ambulansya habang inaalagaan muna ng ospital ang mga naunang dumating.

Makakaasa po kayo na ginagawa ng ospital ang lahat upang tugunan ang sitwasyong ito. Maraming salamat sa inyong pang-unawa at pakikipagtulungan.

𝗢𝗙𝗙𝗜𝗖𝗜𝗔𝗟 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧

The Eastern Visayas Medical Center (EVMC) issues this statement to address the circulating reports regarding the hospital’s water supply.

The water supply issue is not recent. It has existed since EVMC’s transfer to the Bagacay site—beginning with the turnover of the Maternal and Child Building in 2016, followed by its initial transfer in April 2017 and full transfer in May 2017, the Outpatient Department (OPD) in September 2017, and the Main Building in 2018, culminating in the full transfer of the entire hospital within the same year. Since then, this issue has been existing and significant improvements to address this has been made amidst rapidly expanding needs of EVMC.

As of 2025, the hospital has increased its water storage capacity to approximately 998 cubic meters, representing a threefold increase compared to previous years due to different multiple water sources, including the local water concessionaire, shallow and deep wells, and rainwater harvesting systems.

However, water storage alone cannot fully resolve the issue. A stable and sufficient supply from the water concessionaire remains essential. The hospital requires at least six (6) hours of water distribution twice daily, with a minimum pressure of 15 psi, to adequately meet operational demands.

It is therefore not fair to attribute the issue solely to hospital management. While EVMC has taken proactive steps to strengthen its internal water systems, what urgently needs to be improved is PrimeWater’s distribution supply, as a stable and adequate external supply is essential to fully meet the hospital’s operational needs.
