Ang mga consequences ng dry gangrene sa isang diabetic patient!

Ang Diabetes ay madalas na nakakaapekto sa arteries, nerves, kidneys, eyes, skin, at feet. Ang Gangrene ay isang serious complication na nag-co-cause ng tissue death. Ang dry gangrene ay caused by arterial disease. Pwede rin itong maging wet gangrene kapag nagkaroon ng infection, at madalas ay kailangan ng amputation para ma-save ang buhay o limb ng pasyente.

Ang high risk ng pagkakaroon ng gangrene (na madalas ay dry form na walang pus o nana) ay dahil sa high blood sugar levels na nag-da-damage sa nerves, lalo na sa paa. Dahil dito, mas madaling ma-injure ang pasyente nang hindi niya namamalayan.

Nida-damage din nito ang blood vessels, na nagre-restrict ng blood supply sa feet. Dahil dito, ang tissues ay na-de-deprive ng oxygen, kaya namamatay ang cells. Ang poor circulation sa area na iyon ay nag-li-lead sa pagbaba ng WBCs (ang infection-fighting cells) na nakakarating doon, kaya pwedeng mag-develop ang infection.

Ang JP drain na nakalabas sa side ng paa ay inilagay during surgery para maiwasan ang hematoma.
