Twelve years ago today, Bohol was shaken by a magnitude 7.2 earthquake โ a moment that changed lives, communities, and the very landscape of our island.
We remember the lives lost, the homes destroyed, and the deep emotional scars left behind. But we also remember the resilience of the Boholano spirit โ the strength to rebuild, the courage to face fear, and the compassion that brought us together in the aftermath.
๐ง Trauma doesn't always end when the ground stops shaking.
Even years later, many still carry silent burdens โ anxiety, grief, fear, and uncertainty. Healing from trauma is not linear, and it doesn't have an expiration date.
At Bohol Island Psychological Center, we believe that mental health is as important as physical recovery. As we honor this day, we also encourage everyone to:
โ
Acknowledge your emotions
โ
Reach out for support when needed
โ
Create safe spaces for conversations about trauma and healing
โ
Be gentle with yourself and others

Let today be a reminder that while the earth may shake, our hope, connection, and resilience remain unshakable.
