Know When It’s Go Time!
True vs. False Labor Explained

🔶 FALSE LABOR (Braxton Hicks)
Your body practicing for the real thing.
• Comes and goes — no regular pattern
• Usually mild
• Stops when you rest, drink water, or change position
• Felt mostly in the front of your belly

🔶 TRUE LABOR
This is when baby is actually getting ready to come out. Here’s what it looks like — with simple examples:

✔️ Contractions are regular & getting stronger
Example: They start every 10 minutes, later become 7 minutes, then 5 minutes apart — each one feels stronger.

✔️ Contractions get closer together
Example: Earlier they were every 15 minutes, now they’re every 8, then 6 minutes.

✔️ They don’t stop with rest or movement
Example: You try lying down, walking, or taking a warm bath — but contractions continue and even intensify.

✔️ Pain starts in the back then moves to the front
Example: A strong cramp begins in your lower back and wraps around your tummy like a tightening wave.

✔️ Water leaking or breaking
Example: A sudden gush, or a slow trickle you can’t control, like you’re peeing unintentionally.

✔️ Pink or bloody discharge (bloody show)
Example: You wipe and see pink mucus or a small amount of bloody mucus.

✔️ Heavy downward pressure
Example: Feels like the baby is pushing down — similar to the urge to p**p, but stronger and lower.

🔶 When to Go to the Hospital
• Contractions are 5 minutes apart, lasting 1 minute, for 1 hour
• Water breaks
• Baby is moving less
• Heavy bleeding

✈️🚗🚢 Safe Travel Tips for Pregnant Women This Coming Holiday Season

As many families prepare for trips this coming holiday season, expectant mothers are reminded to take extra precautions when traveling — whether by plane, car, or sea. Here are important OB-GYN guidelines:

• Proper Seatbelt / Safety Use
• Car: Lap belt below the abdomen, shoulder belt between the breasts.
• Boat: Follow vessel safety instructions; wear life jackets designed for pregnancy if available.

• Stay Hydrated
Drink water regularly to prevent dehydration, which may trigger contractions during long trips.

• Reduce the Risk of DVT
Pregnancy increases the risk of blood clots. Stand, walk, or stretch every 1–2 hours. On flights or long boat trips, consider compression stockings.

• When to Avoid Traveling
Pregnant women should avoid travel (plane, sea, or long road trips) if they have:
– placenta previa
– preeclampsia or uncontrolled hypertension
– symptoms of preterm labor
– multiple pregnancy beyond 32–34 weeks
Most airlines and long-distance vessels restrict travel after 36 weeks of gestation.

• Seek Immediate Care
If you experience dizziness, contractions, vaginal bleeding, severe headache, or decreased fetal movement.

We remember and pray for the souls of our departed loved ones. 💐
It’s a day of reflection, love, and hope — reminding us that even though they are no longer with us, their memory and spirit continue to live in our hearts. ❤️

Let us honor them with prayers, light, and gratitude for the lives they’ve shared with us. 🌅

All Saints’ Day is a time to honor and remember all the saints — known and unknown — who have lived lives of faith, love, and service. ✨

It reminds us that holiness is not only found in extraordinary deeds, but in the quiet acts of kindness, compassion, and goodness we do each day. 🌿

As we reflect on their lives, may we find strength to walk with faith and share love that endures beyond time. 💫

👶✨ Feeling your baby move is one of the most reassuring signs of a healthy pregnancy. But did you know that counting those little kicks can actually help ensure your baby’s well-being? 💗

Here’s how to monitor your baby’s movements — and why it matters. ⬇️

🕐 When to start:
Begin counting at 28 weeks (or earlier if advised by your OB-GYN).

👣 How to do it:

Option 1: The “Count to 10” Method
1️⃣ Choose a quiet time when your baby is usually active — often after meals or in the evening.
2️⃣ Sit or lie on your left side and place your hands over your abdomen.
3️⃣ Count every movement — kicks, rolls, jabs, or flutters — all count!
4️⃣ You should feel 10 movements within 2 hours or less (most babies do this much sooner).

Option 2: The Daily Routine Method
🕊️ Count your baby’s movements at the same time each day.
💗 Observe what’s “normal” for your baby and watch for any changes in their usual activity.

⚠️ Call your OB-GYN immediately if:
• You feel fewer than 10 movements in 2 hours
• Your baby is moving less than usual
• There’s a sudden change in your baby’s movement pattern

🩺 Why it matters:
Tracking your baby’s movements helps detect early signs of distress or growth problems — giving you peace of mind and keeping your baby safe. 💕

😴 Did you know that lack of sleep can make you gain weight? ⚖️

When you don’t get enough rest, your body produces more hunger hormones (ghrelin) and less of the fullness hormone (leptin) — making you crave more food, especially sweets and carbs. 🍫🍞

At the same time, your metabolism slows down, so your body burns fewer calories even when you’re not eating more. Over time, this imbalance can lead to unwanted weight gain and other health issues like fatigue, mood changes, and even poor blood sugar control.

🌙 Sleep is not a luxury — it’s essential for good health.
Aim for 7–9 hours of quality sleep each night. Combine this with a balanced diet and regular physical activity to keep your hormones, weight, and overall well-being in sync.

💚 A Friendly Reminder from MP Dublas OB-GYN:
Taking care of your health isn’t just about what you eat — it’s also about how well you rest.
Make sleep a part of your self-care routine.
Your body will thank you! 🌸
