The DOH, UP-PGC and UP-NIH today report the detection of additional 264 cases with Alpha variant, 299 Beta variant cases, 16 Delta variant cases and 55 Theta variant cases from the latest batch of samples sequenced by UP-PGC. To date, the UP-PGC has sequenced a total of 8,557 samples, of which 3,424 have variants being closely monitored by DOH
With the detection of local cases with the more transmissible Delta variant, now more than ever, we need to act as one for us to win this race against the variant. The Department of Health calls on LGUs to ensure that protocols for Doors 3 and 4 of the 4-door strategy are in place and be further enhanced. We need to strengthen the implementation of our PDITR strategies and expand the capacity of the local healthcare capacity to manage possible surge in cases. We also call for public's cooperation to choose to be protected against COVID-19 by continuously following the minimum public health stands and through vaccination.
