USAPANG PROFESSIONAL FEE NG ISANG PHYSICAL THERAPIST
A physical Therapist is a healthcare professional who rehabilitates and helps individuals with physical impairments and disabilities to recover from pain, injury, disease, or after surgery.
Unlike physicians who use medicines, and surgeons who operate the body, physical therapists use physical agents, mechanical tools, corrective exercises, and other physical equipment to manage and heal their patients.
They are unique healthcare professionals who study the human body longer and more deeply.
In the Philippines, studying physical therapy is not easy. In the past, its a 5-year Bachelor of Science degree and was considered one of the toughest / hardest courses in the Philippines, but recently, the CHED deducted it to a 4- year Bachelor of science degree due to its K12 program. However, studying physical therapy does not end there. If they wish to continue their studies, they have the option to continue to a 2-year academic master's degree or a 1.5-year transitional professional doctorate (without passing the master's degree) after their bachelor's degree and may continue up to their specialization diploma or fellowship.
Physical Therapist, after finishing the BS degree program is eligible to take the Physical Therapy Licensure Exam offered by PRC. This licensure/board exam gives the physical therapist the freedom or legibility to practice physical therapy without supervision.
HOW MUCH WOULD BE THE COST OF PHYSICAL THERAPY?
Physical Therapy is a session-based program. It means the physical therapist practitioner sees patients on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis depending on the assessment & evaluation of the said practitioner.
WHERE CAN I FIND A PHYSICAL THERAPIST?
Physical Therapists work in different settings. In the Philippines, the available working areas the PTs are in universities or colleges as instructors/lecturers/professors; rehabilitation department of the hospital as PT staff; in gyms, sports facilities, and wellness centers as PT coaches, PT trainers, or sports PTs; in a home for the aged or community rehab facilities as a physical therapist, or they can put up their private physical therapy clinic and begin to work as a physical therapy consultant.
HOW MUCH WILL BE THE PROFESSIONAL FEE (PF) OF A PHYSICAL THERAPIST?
Since it's a session-based program, the PF of a physical therapist is also per session. The amount per session varies on the physical therapist's level of education, types and years of experience, level of clinical skills, and case portfolio or work samples.
If you wish to do your physical therapy session in the hospital or private clinic, then they have their own set of standards of prices or fees per session, however, if you choose to hire a physical therapist of your own for home visit rehab, then the professional fee depends on the level of education, experience, and skills of the therapist. Although they are all PRC license holders, professional fees are quite not the same. Expect that there are higher PF and lower PF physical therapists.
AS A CONSUMER (Patient/Client), WHAT ARE THE CRITERIA IN HIRING A GOOD PHYSICAL THERAPIST?
1. Hire a physical therapist that never stops learning. a physical therapist who continuously attends training, seminars, conventions, and research updates.
