Surigao City continues to make meaningful strides toward inclusive and sustainable development, ranking among the Top 20 cities in Mindanao and also earning its Top 1 rank in the Caraga Region in terms of the lowest poverty incidence. According to the latest Poverty Statistics 2023 released by the Philippine Statistics Authority, the city recorded a poverty incidence of 8.5%—a strong indicator of improving living conditions for Surigaonon families.
This milestone reflects the collective impact of strategic governance, strengthened social protection programs, and sustained investments in key sectors such as livelihoods, infrastructure, and basic services. It also highlights the resilience and active participation of communities in driving local development forward.
While this achievement is worth celebrating, the City Government remains committed to further reducing poverty and ensuring that no Surigaonon is left behind. Efforts will continue to focus on expanding economic opportunities, enhancing access to essential services, and implementing data-driven programs that respond to the real needs of the people.
Together, Surigao City moves forward—building a future that is more inclusive, resilient, and prosperous for all.
