Did you know that the popular children’s show, Sesame Street, has a character who has Autism? Yes, her name is Julia.

Julia has Autism, goes to school and has friends. Just like any other child, she sometimes struggles with some everyday tasks. But what the show emphasizes is, there are different ways to play, to connect, and to make friends.

More importantly, there are lots of ways to be kind and to participate. Friends help each other, with or without Autism.

Fire Safety Awareness and Prevention

“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”

As part of our policy and advocacy on disaster preparedness and response, Life Skills Therapy Center conducted its annual Fire Safety Awareness and Prevention as well as Earthquake Preparedness Activity. These were conducted in partnership with LSTC’s ever-reliable community partner, the Tarlac Filipino-Chinese Volunteers Fire Brigade.

Our students, staff, and families enjoyed not just the lecture, but more importantly, the actual experience of practicing fire prevention and response and earthquake response. We cannot overemphasize the importance of regularly engaging in these activities to ensure that we and our families prevent and are ready for disasters.

Knowing the signs and symptoms of a heart attack and stroke may mean the difference between life or death for you or for a loved one. Make sure everyone in the family is familiar with these signs and symptoms and know what to do when they see these signs and symptoms.

One school at a time…

In line with its advocacy for inclusion, Life Skills Therapy Center, through its Executive Director, took part in the In-service Training of Teachers of the Jose V. Yap National High School. LSTC’s Executive Director led a seminar on Supporting the School Participation of Students with Developmental Disabilities.

This is part of the ongoing collaboration between LSTC and the Jose V. Yap National High School. Thank you to the administrators and teachers of JVY National High School and we look forward to more collaborative activities with you! Mabuhay po kayong lahat!
