This tiny butterfly just landed on my hand inside Casa Mellifera one morning a few days ago. It was my first time seeing this pretty specimen so I took pictures of it. And boy was it cooperative with our little pictorial. I had many pix and vids that I tried to let it fly away. But everytime I shook it off my hand it kept coming back at the exact same spot…on my hand. Finally it left my hand and went to my face! Hehe.
I posted about it in the butterfly group and they identified it as a male Straight Pierrot or Caleta roxus.
My uncle who was with me believed it was his late wife and that made him happy…me too. 😌🦋

Kids were with me in the restaurant yesterday and it was time for my elder daughter’s Kumon class. So we walked out to parking lot and found the sun unusually low and peaking through the lush growth across the other end of the road. The parking area usually dull and uneventful to me became “interesting.” Maybe “magical” even. We decided to take some shots as my girls walked up the road. It seemed like a movie scene to me. My children holding hands, having each other, going up the road to we don’t know where. I just love this scene. 🥰
Then we drove off for Kumon.

I heard some excited screaming and saw our staff fussing over a black and white snake. They found it inside Casa Mel last Friday. It must’ve wanted a snack. No worries, it was identified as a wolf snake, harmless, non venomous. It feeds mostly on lizards like house geckos. Chef Justin took it gently and let it go outside to find another hiding spot.
The last snake we saw before this was a coral snake crossing the apiary. I wonder what’s next? 🐍

One for the books! Casa Mel staff Christmas Party was truly awesome! 🎄🎅 we had it last Tuesday evening and even if preparations were pretty much last minute, the fellowship was strong.
We had games, food and well wishes for each other.
I’m glad we found time to laugh and enjoy time together as colleagues.
This team is awesome.
