To All Moms
Depression, Anxiety, Stress, Overthinking..
Most of us moms are entertaining right now. Some can and some cannot. It even came to the point that you will be out of your mind and sanity. This applies not only to us moms but to our friends, family, neighbors, people around us. Awareness specially to us moms is so important because we are the one who rear our children, build them character, teach them values. How can we do it if we ourselvea are weak. So we need to be aware for our children.
Because of the effect brought about by Covid-19, we are thinking what lies behind us for our future.. How about the kids, are we or we will not send them to school? Our job when and how are we going to make money for our family. How are we going to help each other overcome all of this things.
So I made a research to help you get over it and overcome:
Treatment for depression is carried out through two ways, pharmacology and psychotherapy. Initial pharmacological treatment is prescribed by a family doctor at the same time a psychological intervention plan is followed which prepare a person to get relief from depression and avoid its return.
Aside from the medical treatment made by your Doctor if medications are already done, consider the following tips:
1. Daily Routine - planning a program of activities is one of the most common strategies used by psychologist. This is being fulfilled for several weeks with the help of the patient's family.
A. Choose a pleasant activities and avoid
diffficult ones.
B. Seek social activities like talking with friends.
C. If possible continue normal activities like studying or work but reducing the time and its intensity.
D. Manual work is advice like sewing, gardening, carpentry.
E. Include physical exercise.
F. The schedulenof activity should be detailed as possible like 8:00-8:30am or 8:30-9:00am.
2. Your Way of Thinking - Individual must intentionally focus on their thoughts patterns. They must not focus on the dangers or imperfections. Rather they should focus on the beautiful things and pleasant memories. And if negative things going on they have to withstand or overcome it instead of self pity
Those who are suffering from depression have a tendency to:
A. Have unrealistic objectives and expectations.
B. Point out their personal failures and minimize their achievement.
C. Compare themselves to others and feel they are inferior.
The person should not focus on their inferiority and self pity instead count their personal qualities and capabilities to be of great value.
3. Family Should Support - treatment and overcoming depression progresses better if there is a family support to the depressed individual.
When your child, your spouse suffers from depression it is very important that the problem will faced seriously. Consider the following :
A. Listen with attention and sympathy. This has a therapeutic effect.
B. Treat the person naturally and calmly but never censure.
C. Help him/her occupied like a family camping even in a nearby farm or beachor give a small task.
D. Encourage her, nurture and give hope that he/she will overcome her depression with dignity.
E. Support her medical treatment by reminding the importance of taking medications.
F. Expect difficulties especially if the case becomes worst like if the individual always says " life is not worth living for or wishes to die.
G. Monitor the individual if she/he eats properly and adequately and does not use alcohol.
4. Do Something for Others - acts of helping others help the depressed individual realized that there are people who have greater than his or her own. Example help him go shopping with an elderly or visit a hospitalized friend or family.
5. Look to the Future with Hope - if you are feeling the symptoms of depression you need to understand that the future is not at the mercy of circumstances but you are an important part of tomorrow.
6. Explains Failures with Reality - be aware of your strengths and weaknesses. That you are unique and specially made by God. If you fail in some areas like in class or in relationship or in your career, think that there is a better opportunities lies ahead that God prepares for you.
