𝗕𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗱𝘀 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗚𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗱 𝗞𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗮𝗱𝗮 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱; 𝗠𝗮𝘂𝗴, 𝗧𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘄𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗶𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗱 𝗡𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝗧𝗼𝗽 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀

The City Government of Butuan, through the CTTMD, held the first Gawad Kalsada 2025—an initiative designed to strengthen community-led road safety and reduce road-related risks across the city.

The program recognized barangays with outstanding road safety practices and effective traffic management efforts.

Barangay Maug topped this year’s Road Safety Champions, followed by Tiniwisan and Libertad, honored for strong safety measures, improved traffic systems, and proactive protection of residents.

Honorable mentions were given to Barangays Diego Silang, Rajah Humabon, Leon Kilat, Urduja, Ambago, Lumbocan, Mahogany, Mahay, Pigdaulan, and Golden Ribbon for notable progress in improving local road safety.

Mayor Fortun emphasized that “Road safety is a collective responsibility, not only of the LGU but especially of our front liners in the barangays. We cannot implement road safety measures successfully without their active involvement.“

CTTMD highlighted the event as a celebration of barangay efforts to build safer roads and save lives. The program was conducted in partnership with the DILG, ensuring transparent and standardized evaluation based on traffic management, infrastructure, community participation, education, and compliance with mobility-related ordinances.

CTTMD, through the leadership of Ms. Maria Kristina E. Cassion, thanked all participating barangays and reaffirmed its support for a smarter and safer mobility system for Butuan City.

Strengthening its united effort for Butuan Bay, the Butuan Bay Development Alliance (BBDA) renewed its commitment to protecting the bay during the Butuan Bay Leg Oversight and Coordination Committee Meeting on December 5. The alliance focused on improving teamwork, strengthening law enforcement, and boosting coordinated environmental action across the region.

A key highlight of the meeting was the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement that formally unites partner agencies under a reinforced Butuan Bay Law Enforcement framework. The agreement brings together the BBDA, eight LGUs surrounding the bay, BFAR, DENR-PENRO Agusan del Norte, the Coast Guard, PNP Maritime Unit, PNP Provincial Police Office, Butuan City Police Office, and the Provincial Government of Agusan del Norte. Through this partnership, agencies will coordinate on patrols, surveillance, resource protection, and the enforcement of fisheries and environmental laws.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment and a clear direction: stronger collaboration to safeguard Butuan Bay for the years ahead.

The City Government of Butuan, under the leadership of Mayor Law Fortun, Vice Mayor Rey Desiata, and the members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, extends its profound gratitude to the PNP Butuan City Mobile Force Company headed by PLTCOL Randy Azote for their dedicated service and successful operation against illegal mining activities in the mountainous area of Barangay Bilay on December 3, 2025.

Their unwavering commitment to safeguarding our environment and enforcing the law led to the apprehension of four individuals.

The city deeply appreciates their courage, vigilance, and continued efforts in protecting the welfare of our communities.

Kon masakpan nga nagpataka’g labay og basura, posibleng makabayad og penalty o kaha mag-community service, depende sa gilatid sa ordinansa.
