The ASH PHILIPPINES (National Validators), in coordination with the Ministry of Health – BARMM, and the Integrated Provincial Health Office– Maguindanao, conducted the RED Orchid Award Validation at the Datu Blah T. Sinsuat District Hospital.
The RED Orchid Award is the Department of Health’s prestigious recognition given to government offices, hospitals, and local government units that have successfully implemented and sustained comprehensive to***co control measures in line with the World Health Organization’s MPOWER strategies.
During the validation visit, evaluators from DOH Central Office, MOH-BARMM, and IPHO-Maguindanao assessed the hospital’s compliance with the standards of a 100% to***co-free environment. The assessment included an evaluation of policies, advocacy initiatives, enforcement of smoking prohibitions, health promotion activities, and the availability of cessation programs for hospital staff and clients.
The validation activity forms part of the DOH’s nationwide campaign to promote a to***co-free Philippines, with the RED Orchid Award serving as a benchmark for health institutions that exemplify excellence in to***co control and health promotion.
The hospital’s staff and management reaffirmed their support for maintaining a to***co-free workplace and continuing health promotion programs.
