RECAP | ZCMC Employees Underwent Orientation on the New Government Procurement Act

The Professional Education Training and Research Office, in collaboration with the Legal Unit, Materials Management Section, and Procurement Unit, conducted a two-day orientation on the New Government Procurement Act on January 13–14, 2026, at the Grand Astoria Hotel.

The orientation was led by Atty. Honoriza Krystle S. Monjardin, CPA, who discussed the provisions and salient points of Republic Act No. 12009. The second day served as a continuation of the discussions from Day 1. In the afternoon, presentations on ZCMC’s procurement-related processes were conducted, beginning with the Materials Management Section led by Mr. Omiberto Pablo, followed by the Procurement Unit presented by Ms. Rowena Abbilani.

The activity provided a valuable venue for discussion, bridging the legal framework of the new procurement law with the current practices of Zamboanga City Medical Center.

The orientation was also graced by ZCMC Medical Center Chief Dr. Afdal B. Kunting, whose presence emphasized the administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and compliance with the new government procurement law.

RECAP | PETRO Conducts Training Administration Capacity Building for ZCMC Employees

PETRO conducted the Technical Support Capacity Building Program on January 26–27, 2026, at the ZCMC Admin Conference Room, aimed at strengthening ZCMC employees’ capacity in effective training administration.

The activity was implemented in two batches, with the first catering to non-medical personnel and the second focused on medical personnel, ensuring that discussions were aligned with participants’ roles and responsibilities.

The training opened with a session on PETRO training-related policies, checklists, and an overview of the drafting learning and development design, led by Mr. Florencio V. Amsid, Jr., MAStat, Training Specialist IV. This was followed by a discussion on training administration processes before, during, and after training activities, facilitated by Ms. Arlene O. Diacor, Training Assistant.

In the afternoon, Ms. Coniely Mhar P. Himor, MPA, Training Assistant, discussed digital facilitation tools for conducting online training, while Ms. Jan Charisse SJ Garcia, RN, CRN, Administrative Assistant III, covered honorarium checklists and the drafting of personnel orders.

The program concluded with a hands-on workshop, where participants mock-demonstrated the knowledge and skills they gained, reinforcing learning through practical application.

ZCMC Boosts Productivity through 2-Day Google Workspace Training

The Professional Education, Training, and Research Office (PETRO), in collaboration with the Innovations and Information System Unit (ISSU), successfully conducted a two-day seminar-workshop on Google Workspace for Productivity last August 14–15, 2025, at the Grand Astoria Hotel.

The training opened with Mr. Florencio Amsid, LPT, MAStat, Training Specialist IV, who emphasized the importance of automating tasks to improve efficiency in the workplace. On the first day, Ms. Krizelle Mae Falcasantos and Ms. Alyanna Claire Barretto, both Computer Programmers II, discussed the features and functions of Gmail, Google Docs, Google Keep, Google Tasks, and Google Calendar. Participants were then given the opportunity to apply their learnings through hands-on demonstrations.

On the second day, Mr. Art Louise Sambrano and Mr. Kim Horace Dolar, Computer Programmers II of ISSU, facilitated in-depth sessions on Google Sheets. To reinforce the lessons, participants performed return demonstrations showcasing their newly acquired skills.

The activity aimed to equip employees with practical knowledge and skills in Google Workspace applications that can support both their professional responsibilities and personal productivity. The training was met with active participation and engagement, reflecting the commitment of ZCMC staff to adapt to innovative digital tools in enhancing workplace efficiency.

The Nursing Education and Training Unit of the Professional Education, Training, and Research Office recently conducted a training entitled "Lift, Shift, and Support: Essential Patient Moving Skills for Nursing Attendants." This two-day training took place at the Grand Astoria Hotel, Sapphire Hall, on February 27-28, 2025.

The training program was attended by nursing attendants from various departments and units of ZCMC. It was facilitated by the PETRO-NETU and made possible through the valuable contributions of our dedicated workforce from the Orthopedic Department, Psychiatric Department, and the Rehabilitation Medicine Department.

This training program equips nursing attendants with essential skills and techniques for safely and effectively moving and transferring patients, ensuring they can confidently provide safe, compassionate, and efficient care during patient transfers, which promotes overall quality of care.

The Nursing Education and Training Unit of the Professional Education, Training, and Research Office (PETRO) of Zamboanga City Medical Center recently conducted a seminar entitled 'Patient First: Advocating the Rights of Every Filipino in Healthcare.' This two-day seminar was held at a local hotel in two batches: November 28-29 and December 16-17, 2024.

This seminar was attended by employees from various departments and units of Zamboanga City Medical Center. It was facilitated by the PETRO - NETU and made possible through the valuable contributions of our dedicated workforce from the Public Affairs and Customer Care Unit, the Legal Unit, and the Medical Social Work Department.

This seminar further strengthens Zamboanga City Medical Center’s commitment to delivering healthcare that not only addresses medical needs but also upholds and advocates for the rights of every Filipino.
