Article 25(1) of the Constitution explicitly states:
“All citizens are equal before law and are entitled to equal protection of law.”
Granting lifetime immunity to a single office-holder (even after they leave office) creates an unequal class of citizens, which is contrary to this foundational principle.
Equality before the law is a core element of both the Constitution and international human rights norms (Article 7 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, UDHR).
Is it a constitution or child playbook? The way they are playing with it will bow seeds of authoritarianism. Equality comes before the Law.
