Gaza-based doctors Basma Abusaqer and Sara Alsakani completed their training at the Ayesha Bashir Complex, where they gained valuable lessons in clinical practice and medical administration at the Pakistan Cleft Lip & Palate Association (PCLAPA) Head Office and the Ayesha Bashir Trust Hospital (Cleft Hospital Pakistan).
“We are returning with professional learning and a deep passion for humanitarian service after completing our training at Cleft Hospital Pakistan,” said Dr. Basma Abusaqer and Dr. Sara Alsakani in their joint statement.
“The Pakistan Cleft Lip & Palate Association (PCLAPA) will provide free treatment to Palestinian patients affected by cleft lip and palate,” said Dr. Ijaz Bashir, Founder & Patron-in-Chief of PCLAPA.
“The Decent Welfare Society (DWS) will provide free treatment to Palestinian patients affected by amputated limbs, clubfoot, and cerebral palsy,” said DWS President Mirza Ashfaq Bashir.
“Ayesha Bashir Trust Hospital (Cleft Hospital Pakistan) is committed to offering professional training opportunities to Palestinian doctors and medical students,” said Hamza Ijaz, Director General of Cleft Hospital Pakistan.
Gaza-based Palestinian doctors Basma Abusaqer and Sara Alsakani, after completing their training at the Ayesha Bashir Complex, departed for their next destination. During their stay, they gained valuable experience in clinical practice and medical administration. Their training activities were conducted at the Pakistan Cleft Lip & Palate Association Head Office and the Ayesha Bashir Trust Hospital (Cleft Hospital Pakistan). Upon the completion of their training, doctors Basma Abusaqer and Sara Alsakani met with their hosts— Dr. Ijaz Bashir, Founder & Patron-in-Chief of Pakistan Cleft Lip & Palate Association; Mirza Ashfaq Bashir, President of Decent Welfare Society; and Hamza Ijaz, Director General of Cleft Hospital Pakistan. On this occasion, Patron-in-Chief of Pakistan Cleft Lip & Palate Association, Dr. Ijaz Bashir, stated that “PCLAPA will provide free cleft lip and palate treatment to Palestinian patients who visit Cleft Hospital Pakistan.” President of Decent Welfare Society, Mirza Ashfaq Bashir, said that “The Decent Welfare Society will provide free treatment to Palestinian individuals with disabilities—including amputated limbs, clubfoot, and cerebral palsy—at the Muhammad Gatrad Artificial Limb & Clubfoot Centre in Gujrat.” Director General of Ayesha Bashir Trust Hospital (Cleft Hospital Pakistan), Hamza Ijaz, reiterated that Cleft Hospital Pakistan is committed to providing professional training opportunities to Palestinian doctors and medical students. In the end, Palestinian doctors Basma Abusaqer and Sara Alsakani expressed their gratitude to the people of Pakistan—especially the Pakistan Cleft Lip & Palate Association, Ayesha Bashir Trust Hospital (Cleft Hospital Pakistan), and the Decent Welfare Society—for their guidance, support, and warm hospitality.
