Pakistan Pediatric Association KP, in collaboration with UNICEF, celebrated Universal Children's Day on November 20 at the Khyber Institute of Child Health and Children Hospital. The event was attended by senior pediatricians, the UNICEF team, Special Secretary Health, and doctors from various hospitals.
Students from SOS Schools and Bright Side High School performed activities, showcasing their talents. The Project Director KICH & Children Hospital, Dr. Amjad Mahboob and Dr. Syed Bawar Shah, President of PPA KP, welcomed the guests and highlighted the mission of PPA and the importance of a specialized children's hospital in KP.
Dr. Amjad Mahboob Project Director KICH&CH & Dr. Inam Ullah Khan from UNICEF discussed the indicators of various problems faced by children in Pakistan and ways to improve the situation. Dr. Mehartaj Roghani, a senior pediatrician, spoke about the significance of Universal Children's Day and the need for a children's hospital.
Professor Abdul Hameed, the pioneer of KICH & Children Hospital, also shared his insights, and the event concluded with a speech by the Special Secretary Health.

On 14th August 2025, in celebration of Independence Day, the Chief Minister’s team held a meeting with the Project Director, Dean, Paediatric Specialists and other Administrative Experts to discuss the operationalization of the Khyber Institute of Child Health and Children Hospital, Hayatabad, Peshawar. The team also actively participated in a plantation drive, symbolizing growth, hope, and a healthier future for our children.

Today, Mr. Ihtisham Ali, Advisor to the Chief Minister for Health, along with Secretary Health, Mr. Shahid Ullah, paid an important visit to the Super Specialty Hospital for Children at the Khyber Institute of Child Health and Children Hospital, Hayatabad, Peshawar, to review the overall progress of the project. During the visit, they closely examined the development status of key medical departments, infrastructure readiness, and upcoming service plans. The delegation was briefed on recent achievements and future milestones aimed at making the facility a leading center for advanced pediatric care in the province. Their visit underscored the government’s strong commitment to strengthening child healthcare services and ensuring the timely operationalization of this flagship project for the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Today, the Minister for Communication and Works, Mr. Muhammad Sohail Afridi, visited the Khyber Institute of Child Health and Children Hospital Peshawar to review the progress of the project. He was briefed on the current status and also inspected different parts of the site.

The Minister praised the ongoing efforts and directed the team to complete the work on time with top quality. He said this state-of-the-art, super specialty hospital for child health will play a key role in providing the best medical care to the children of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
