Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Sindh Provincial Council Meeting was held on Sunday 20 June at PMA HOUSE . The meeting was attended by a large number of doctors from across the Sindh province and participated in discussions regarding the issues of doctors, Covid situation, harassment and maltreatment of doctors, role of Sindh healthcare commission, promotions, Pakistan Medical Commission, and general shortcomings in the health delivery system. Copies of PMA Sindh’s revised and amended constitution were unveiled in the meeting and provided to the participants for their branches. The major decisions which were taken in the meeting were that the meeting unanimously rejected and disapproved the formation of PMCand its illegal actions especially NLE.It was further decided to arrange protests throughout province against PMC. The number of cases of harassment and violence against the doctors and healthcare facilities is increasing with every passing day. Sindh Healthcare Commission has miserably failed to address these issues. The role of SHCC was story condemned. A committee was formed comprising of Dr Jaipal , Dr Dayali Gul, Dr Agha Taj, Dr Nisar Shah, DrGhulam Ali, Dr Rasheed Lakhair and Dr Agha Jan Muhammad . This committee will take up the important and burning issues with higher authorities including Chief Justce Sindh, Chief Minister Sindh, Home Minister and Health Minister Sindh, Home Secretary and Health Secretary, and local administration of every district. Registration of FIRs against doctors were strongly condemned and demanded that in case of any mishap a fair and free inquiry be conducted before proceeding for further action.
Process of promotion of doctors should be streamlined as per law.
The elections of PMA Sindh for the year 2022-2023 announced by the Chief Election Commissioner and President of PMA Sindh Dr Mirza Ali Azhar, to be held in December 2021 according to PMA Sindh constitution.
