A sincere appreciation for Dr. Kashif Abbasi (Orthopaedic Surgeon)
I wish to take a moment to thank Dr. Kashif Abbasi, a highly qualified orthopaedic surgeon, working as a HOD of Orthopaeic Department Isra University Hospital Hyderabad, who recently operated on my father for a fracture (a complex case).

Right from the first visit, I (being a doctor by profession) was impressed beyond words by the manner in which he treated the patient as well as the family — with patience, compassion, and understanding. He explained everything carefully, never rushing into anything, and made sure my father was comfortable and secure with the course of treatment.

Dr. Kashif Abbasi is the type of physician our society desperately needs — able, modest, and extremely human. His intensive counselling, compassionate nature, and commitment to his patients' welfare distinguish him in the contemporary speeding medical world.

We are indeed thankful for his great care and professionalism. May he bring solace and healing to many more patients in the years to come.

The World Anesthesia Day Observed with Fervor at Isra University, Hyderabad

The World Anaesthesia Day was celebrated at Isra University Hospital by the Department of Anaesthesia, Isra University Hospital, Hyderabad on 16th October 2025 marking the event with zeal and enthusiasm.
The day had a focused and meaningful program. The event was hosted by Dr. Sania Khan, starting with a solemn recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by speeches on the importance of the day by Chief Guest Director IUH Dr. Sajjad Kazi followed by Dr. Raja Srichand, HOD Anaesthesia Department, addressing the audience regarding the anaesthesia procedure and its critical importance in modern medicine.
The celebration was embraced by the presence of Dr. Mehmmod Mughal, Director Media & Public Relations Isra University along with Dr. Shams Shaikh Dr. Ayaz Ali Memon, other Postgraduates Trainees, House Officers, and OT staff of Isra University Hospital.
The formal program included a cake cutting ceremony led by Director IUH, Dr. Sajjad Kazi, who also delivered the closing remarks, appreciating the dedicated Faculty members, expressing gratitude to all Anaesthetists and support staff.
The event was organized and supported by Mr. Israr Ahmed Solangi, Mr. Waqar Kazi, Ms. Mehwish Baloch, Ms. Meera Kumari, Mr Junaid, Mr. Hidayat and the administration of Isra University with their continued support in making such initiatives possible. At Isra University, we take pride in promoting awareness and hosting impactful events that inspire healthier communities. The World Osteoporosis Day Celebrated at Isra University, Hyderabad
World Osteoporosis Day was celebrated at Isra University Hospital with great enthusiasm in collaboration with Haleon Pharmaceutical Company. The event commenced with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by the Director of Isra University Hospital, followed by the presentation of a souvenir to the Director of Isra University Hospital. On this occasion, free Bone Mineral Density (BMD) tests were conducted for patients, students, and employees to promote awareness regarding bone health and the early detection of osteoporosis.
Gifts were also distributed among patients and members of the management team to mark the occasion.

The Department of Pulmonology, Isra University Hospital, in collaboration with Scilife Pharma, proudly celebrated World Lung Day 2025 with a meaningful Plantation Drive, Awareness Walk, and Interactive Session dedicated to lung health and environmental well-being.

The day began with a plantation drive, symbolizing the deep connection between healthy lungs and a healthy planet, followed by a walk led by faculty, students, and volunteers

Dr. Saima Jatoi, Head of Pulmonology and Critical Care, shared her insightful remarks, emphasizing the importance of tree plantation and this year’s theme — “Healthy Lungs, Healthy Life”🫁🌱 She beautifully reminded us that caring for the environment is, in essence, caring for our lungs.

Closing remarks were delivered by Dr. Sajjad Kazi, appreciating the initiative and teamwork behind this effort. Faculty members including Prof Dr. Adnan Bawany, Prof Dr. Akbar Memon, Prof Dr. Hussain Bux Kolachi, and Dr. Bushra Aqeel , Dr. Hafsa Urooj, Colonel Iftikhar and Ms.Shahnaz also shared their valuable thoughts on the urgent need for plantation and pollution control. The Department of Gastroenterology, under the leadership of Dr. Prem Kumar Maheshwari, Associate Professor and Head of Department, organized a CME session on the Role of Rebamipide in Gastritis.

The session was chaired by Dr. Prem Kumar Maheshwari, along with distinguished faculty members including Professor Akbar Memon, Dr. Ehsan Rahim, Dr. Imran Arshad, Dr. Gulam Fareed, Dr. Akram Muneer, Dr. Hafsa, and Dr. Sunil Maheshwari (Assistant Professor of Medicine), who also served as the moderator.

Dr. Rabia Khalid, Postgraduate Trainee, presented illustrative case studies on gastritis and discussed different management strategies, highlighting the clinical applications of Rebamipide in improving gastric mucosal health.

The session concluded with valuable remarks from Dr. Prem Kumar Maheshwari, who emphasized the importance of evidence-based use of Rebamipide along with other therapeutic options in the treatment of gastritis.

The CME was well attended by faculty members from the Department of Medicine, postgraduate trainees, and house officers, who actively participated in the discussion.

The session was conducted by Prof. Dr. Adnan Bawany, who delivered a brilliant case-based presentation on “Clinical Approach to H. pylori Infection in Patients Presenting with Epigastric Pain and Dyspepsia.”

Prof Dr. Adnan guided participants step by step through:

Structured history-taking in dyspepsia

Key examination findings and their clinical significance

Building thoughtful differentials (H. pylori infection, peptic ulcer disease, GERD, functional dyspepsia, gastric malignancy, etc.)

Appropriate investigations (urea breath test, stool antigen, endoscopy, biopsy, imaging)

Evidence-based management, including eradication therapy, lifestyle modification, and follow-up

Clinical pearls on when to suspect alarm features and ensure early referral

On August 21st, the Anaesthesia Department at Isra Hospital organized a comprehensive Surgical Safety Checklist Seminar, serving as a vital platform to elevate clinical standards and foster a culture of excellence.

The program, hosted by Hospital Manager Ms. Mehwish Baloch, began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a welcome speech delivered by Dr. Shams, which set the tone for the event. This was followed by an insightful presentation from Dr. Mukhtiar Bozdar, who explained the principles and practical application of the checklist, highlighting its role in reducing complications, improving team communication, and saving lives. A dynamic panel discussion then took place with distinguished professionals including Prof: Waseem Memon (Chairperson, Department of Surgery), Dr. Kailash (HOD, LUMHS), and Prof: Gul Fareen, who shared their expertise and perspectives.
