Asad Umar Visits IHITC
Mr. Asad Umar, Federal Minister for Planning and Development, on Saturday visited the newly-built Isolation Hospital and Infection Treatment Centre (IHITC) on the outskirts of Islamabad. Dr. Faisal Sultan, PM Focal Person on COVID-19 & CEO of SKH, and General Asif Mahmood Goraya, DG Operations and Planning NCOC, were also among the prominent dignitaries present on this occasion.
He was warmly received by Chairman NDMA Lt. Gen Muhammad Afzal, Dr. Tariq H. Cheema, Lt. Col Omar Shahzad, doctors, paramedics, and volunteers.
After having a detailed briefing about the IHITC, the Minister took a round of the facility and saw various units and wards of the 250-bed healthcare centre, which has been constructed by the NDMA in a record time of 40 days.
On this occasion, while talking to the media-persons, Mr. Asad Umar reiterated that the government is well aware of its responsibilities to provide health facilities to the masses. “This facility is the testament to our endeavours for quality healthcare provision to the masses,” Mr. Asad Umar said, adding that the PTI government under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan is providing best possible health services to the people of Pakistan.
He said that wearing mask, washing hands and maintaining physical distance could help break the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. He said that PM Imran Khan has been advocating smart lockdown as a preventive measure and break the spread of coronavirus.
He said that masses must avoid handshake and physical contact as it leads to the spread of the fatal virus, which has resulted in the loss of hundreds of thousands of precious lives across the globe. He eulogized the efforts of NDMA for constructing the state of the art facility in record time.
