🌏 4th DHIS2 Asia Hub Internal Meeting – Bali, 2025
The 4th DHIS2 Asia Hub Internal Meeting, held in Bali, brought together regional HISP groups to review progress, exchange experiences, and strengthen collaboration within the DHIS2 community. As part of the global HISP network coordinated by the University of Oslo, HISP Pakistan joined colleagues from across Asia to reflect on ongoing initiatives and discuss shared priorities for the region.
The meeting provided a platform to align on strategies for improving system sustainability, governance, and country support while exploring ways to enhance knowledge sharing across nodes. Discussions also focused on reinforcing coordination mechanisms and advancing collective capacity for digital health implementation.
HISP Pakistan contributed to these dialogues by sharing its ongoing work on national and provincial DHIS2 implementations, highlighting progress, challenges, and lessons learned from Pakistan’s digital health journey. The meeting reaffirmed the importance of continued regional cooperation to strengthen health information systems and promote data-driven decision-making across Asia.

HISP Pakistan successfully conducted a two-day workshop on Data Quality and Dashboards with the Health Department of Gilgit-Baltistan.
We were honored by the participation of the Director General Health, Gilgit-Baltistan, whose presence underscored the government’s commitment to strengthening health data systems for improved outcomes in the region. The session also had the valuable participation of Dr. Johar from UNICEF, whose insights and guidance further enriched the discussions.
This initiative represents another milestone in advancing data-driven decision-making and enhancing the DHIS2-based Health Information System in Gilgit-Baltistan.

As the technical partner in implementing the TB Tracker System, our team provided technical support and guidance to PR and SR representatives from across Pakistan.

HISP Pakistan had a very productive meeting with Dr. Ababgar on the Medicines Stock Management System and the development of dashboards and analytics for the DHIS2-based Health Management Information System (HMIS) in Balochistan.
Dr. Ababgar appreciated HISP Pakistan’s continuous support and recognized the timely implementation of the Medicines Management System as a key step toward strengthening health data systems. This advancement will significantly contribute to evidence-based decision-making and improved health outcomes in the province.

DHIS2 Cascade Training – Muzaffarabad

The DHIS2 cascade training has now reached its 6th district, Muzaffarabad, where health facility staff from DHQs, THQs, BHUs, RHCs, CDs, and FAPs are actively participating.
The training focuses on DHIS2 web and mobile application data entry, data analysis, and dashboard utilization, equipping participants with the skills to enhance reporting and evidence-based decision-making.

The program was inaugurated with opening remarks from Dr. Johar (UNICEF), Dr. Muhammad Mateen (DHO Muzaffarabad), and Mr. Adnan Bashir (CEO HISP), who emphasized the vital role of digital health systems in strengthening health service delivery.

HISP Pakistan and UNICEF held a meeting with the Acting DG Health, AJK, to review progress on ongoing health initiatives & priorities. The team also visited CMH Muzaffarabad and Abbas Institute of Medical Sciences to assess the implementation of the DHIS2-based NICU Tracker, with a focus on reporting and data management.
In addition, a visit to the Health House provided an opportunity to review operations and identify areas for strengthening.

Through these engagements, HISP Pakistan, together with UNICEF, continues to support the Government of AJK in enhancing health data systems, ensuring that technology and information serve as catalysts for better healthcare delivery.

Strengthening Health Systems through Capacity Building
The District Health Office Mirpur, in collaboration with UNICEF and HISP Pakistan, successfully conducted a two-day DHIS2 training at Regency Hotel, Mirpur. The training was organized for three batches of health staff from DHQ, THQ, New City Teaching Hospital, RHCs, BHUs, CDs, and FAPs, enhancing their skills in data management and evidence-based decision-making.
The session was inaugurated by Dr. Fida Hussain Raja (DHO Mirpur), who emphasized the critical role of DHIS2 in improving healthcare delivery.
Certificates were distributed among participants, recognizing their successful completion of this important capacity-building initiative.

HISP Pakistan and Pak One Health Alliance (POHA) have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today at the HISP Pakistan office, marking the beginning of a strategic partnership to advance digital public health and integrated One Health solutions in Pakistan.

Through this collaboration, both organizations will:

"Advancing Health Systems Through Capacity Building and Data-Driven Action"

HISP Pakistan, in collaboration with the Department of Health Sindh, successfully conducted a three-day Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop in Hyderabad from July 30 to August 1, 2025. The training focused on strengthening the capacity of health professionals in data collection, analysis, and reporting using DHIS2 across Primary and Secondary Health Care facilities. Through practical exercises and collaborative learning, participants were empowered to enhance data-driven decision-making and improve health service delivery across Sindh.

In continuation of these efforts, a strategic meeting was held on August 2, 2025, with the District Health Officer (DHO) Hyderabad to review key observations from recent monitoring visits. The session involved a detailed discussion on identified gaps, followed by the development of a comprehensive action plan to align health facility performance with established service delivery standards.

AJK Begins Its DHIS2 Journey!
We are proud to share that District Bhimber, AJK, has officially begun its DHIS2 implementation journey with the commencement of cascade training sessions.

📍 The training was facilitated by HISP Pakistan, aiming to build the capacity of district-level health staff in effectively using the DHIS2 system for improved health data reporting and decision-making.

👨‍⚕️ We were honored by the visit of the Honorable Director General Health, AJK, who appreciated the initiative and encouraged the participants to fully engage with the training and apply their learning to strengthen the health information system in the region.

📊 This marks a significant milestone in AJK’s digital health transformation moving toward data-driven planning and improved health outcomes.
