ایک دن فارمیسی پر ایک مریض آیا۔ ہاتھ میں نسخہ تھا اور ضد یہ کہ:
"مجھے وہی دوا دو جو ڈاکٹر نے لکھی ہے، اگر کمپنی بدلی تو دوا اثر نہیں کرے گی۔"

میں نے تحمل سے جواب دیا: "بھائی، دوا چاہے کسی بھی کمپنی کی ہو، اس کے اندر وہی جزوِ موثر (Active Ingredient) ہوتا ہے، اثر ایک جیسا ہی ہوگا۔" مگر اس کے نزدیک ڈاکٹر کے لکھے ہوئے برانڈ کا نام زیادہ معتبر تھا۔

یقین کیجیے، فارمیسی پر اکثر ایسا ہوتا ہے کہ مریض ایک دوسرے کو مفت علاج بتاتے ہیں اور پھر ہمیں یہ باور کرانے کی کوشش کرتے ہیں کہ برانڈ بدلنے سے دوا کی تاثیر بدل جاتی ہے۔ یہ سوچ حقیقت نہیں بلکہ محض مارکیٹنگ کا جادو ہے۔

حقیقت یہ ہے:

عالمی ادارۂ صحت (WHO)، امریکی ایف ڈی اے (FDA) اور پاکستان کے ڈریپ (DRAP) جیسے ادارے اس بات کی سخت جانچ کرتے ہیں کہ اگر کوئی دوا کسی دوسری کمپنی کے نام سے مارکیٹ میں آئے تو اس کی تاثیر، حفاظت اور معیار بالکل پہلی دوا کے برابر ہو۔ جب تک کوئی دوا یہ معیار پورا نہ کرے، اسے منظور (Approved) ہی نہیں کیا جا سکتا۔

تو پھر فرق کہاں ہے؟

فرق صرف "نام" اور "قیمت" میں ہوتا ہے، دوا کے اثر میں نہیں۔

لیکن افسوس! ہمارے ہاں اکثر معالجین ادویات کو جنیرک نام کے بجائے مخصوص برانڈز میں لکھتے ہیں۔ اس کی ایک بڑی وجہ یہ ہے کہ کمپنیوں کی طرف سے مراعات اور کمیشن دیا جاتا ہے۔ اس کے نتیجے میں مریض مجبور ہوتا ہے کہ وہ صرف وہی برانڈ تلاش کرے، اور جب وہ دستیاب نہ ہو تو بلیک مارکیٹ کا سہارا لے کر وقت اور پیسہ ضائع کرے۔

فارماسسٹ ہونے کے ناطے میری ذمہ داری ہے کہ مریض کو آگاہ کروں:

"ایک ہی دوا کے مختلف برانڈز معیار اور تاثیر میں برابر ہوتے ہیں، آپ کوئی بھی استعمال کر سکتے ہیں۔"

مریض جب یہ حقیقت سمجھ لے گا تو نہ صرف اس کا وقت اور پیسہ بچے گا بلکہ وہ اپنی صحت کے بارے میں زیادہ باخبر اور مطمئن ہوگا۔
