Shifa Center of Professional Excellence in collaboration with the Department of General Surgery, Shifa International Hospitals Ltd., successfully conducted a 4-day comprehensive Stoma Management Course at Shifa International Hospitals Ltd.

The course was led by Dr. Qamar Hafeez Kiani, Consultant General Surgeon (SIHL), with contributions from Dr. Sara Khan, the course combined focused lectures with hands-on practical sessions covering stoma anatomy, site marking, stoma bag application, complication management, and nutritional care of stoma patients.

The program brought together Postgraduate Trainees and Residents, Nurses, and Paramedics, fostering a multidisciplinary learning environment focused on improving patient-centered stoma care.

Throughout the course, participants developed a comprehensive understanding of stoma anatomy and perioperative management principles, learned to recognize and manage common complications associated with stoma formation, and explored practical, evidence-based strategies for effective home care management.

The activity concluded with a structured post-activity assessment that included both a theoretical evaluation and a hands-on viva to assess knowledge retention and practical competence. The interactive sessions and practical demonstrations significantly enhanced participants’ clinical competence and confidence in managing patients with stoma care needs.

Shifa Center of Professional Excellence (SCOPE), in collaboration with Nursing Education Services and the Oncology Department, proudly inaugurated the 12-Week Oncology Specialty Course—a comprehensive program aimed at enhancing clinical knowledge, critical thinking, and procedural competence among healthcare professionals working in complex, high-acuity clinical settings.

The course is thoughtfully designed to provide participants with an in-depth understanding of clinical protocols, patient management, and effective multidisciplinary collaboration, in alignment with internationally recognized standards of quality care.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by Mr. Umar Farooq (Chief Nursing Officer), Mr. Malik Uzair (Director Operations), Dr. Maimoona Siddiqui (Director Medical Education, SCOPE), Radiation Oncology Consultant - Dr. Asif Masood, Hematology Consultant - Dr. Tariq Mahmood Satti, and esteemed faculty members.

The course has been thoughtfully structured to provide participants with an in-depth understanding of clinical protocols, patient management, and effective multidisciplinary collaboration, all aligned with international standards of quality care.

Highlights from "Introduction to Neuromodulation for Pain Management"

Shifa Center of Professional Excellence (SCOPE), in collaboration with the Department of Pain Management, Shifa International Hospitals Limited, successfully conducted a clinical session titled “Introduction to Neuromodulation for Pain Management”.

The session commenced under the leadership of Dr. Salman Ahmad Saleem, Chief of Pain Medicine, Shifa International Hospital, Islamabad, who highlighted the growing role of neuromodulation in contemporary pain management and its impact on improving patient care.

The scientific session was delivered by Dr. Muhammad Hasan Wasim, Consultant Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine, who provided an overview of emerging neuromodulation techniques, current medical advancements, and evidence-based practices in pain medicine, with practical insights aligned with clinical guidelines.

Highlights from the Pre-Conference Workshop – IMECON 2026
Teaching with Technology: Simple Tools for Smarter Teaching

Shifa Center of Professional Excellence (SCOPE), in collaboration with the College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan and Shifa International Hospitals Ltd., successfully conducted a dynamic pre-conference workshop on 22 January 2026 at Shifa International Hospital, Islamabad.

Led by Activity Director Dr. Maimoona Siddiqui (Director Medical Education). The session was facilitated by Dr. Mariam Jamshed (Associate Director, Medical Education). The workshop focused on the integration of simple yet effective educational technologies to enhance engagement, collaboration, and assessment in modern teaching environments.

Participants explored the use of digital platforms for interactive learning, collaborative tasks, peer reflection, and formative assessment, bridging technology with evidence-based instructional strategies.

Bridging SPSS and R Studio: Innovating Modern Data Analytical Tools in Education

Shifa Center of Professional Excellence (SCOPE), in collaboration with the College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan and Shifa International Hospitals Ltd., successfully conducted an insightful pre-conference workshop on 19 January 2026 at Shifa International Hospital, Islamabad.

Led by Activity Director Dr. Maimoona Siddiqui (Director Medical Education), The session was facilitated by Dr. Syed Tehseen Haider (Clinical Administrator Medical Education).

The workshop introduced participants to foundational concepts of research methodology, types of research and analytical approaches, and essential components of synopsis writing. It further highlighted the basics of research analytics with an applied understanding of SPSS and R Studio as modern tools for educational and clinical research.

A dedicated hands-on segment enabled participants to practice inferential statistics using both SPSS and R Studio, reinforcing skills required for data-driven decision-making, evidence-based academic work, and practical application in clinical settings.

The workshop effectively bridged research theory with modern data analytics, empowering researchers, learners, and clinicians to adopt contemporary analytical techniques within their scholarly and professional domains.

Highlights from the Pre-Conference Workshop – IMECON 2026
From Theory to Practice: Structuring Workplace Learning in Clinical Education

Shifa Center of Professional Excellence (SCOPE), in collaboration with the College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan and Shifa International Hospitals Limited, conducted a focused pre-conference workshop on 15 January 2026 at Shifa International Hospital, Islamabad.

The workshop opened with remarks by Dr. Maimoona Siddiqui, Director Medical Education, who emphasized the role of structured workplace learning in strengthening clinical training. The session was facilitated by Dr. Mahrukh Durrani and Dr. Mariam Jamshed, Associate Directors Medical Education, Shifa International Hospitals, Islamabad.

Through interactive discussions, participants explored Stephen Billett’s workplace learning principles, their alignment with Kern’s Six-Step model, and the practical use of Mini-CEX, DOPS, CbD, and MSF to support assessment, feedback, and continuous professional development. Closing remarks were given by Dr Farrukh Mateen, Director SIMT.

The workshop successfully bridged educational theory with real-world clinical practice, reinforcing effective workplace learning strategies for medical educators and clinicians.
