is NSTEMI stands for Non ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction #

NSTEMI is a type of heart attack caused by a partial blockage of a coronary artery. Blood flow to the heart muscle is reduced, causing damage, but the artery is not completely blocked.

What happens in NSTEMI?
• Reduced blood flow to part of the heart
• Heart muscle injury occurs
• No ST elevation on ECG
• Troponin level is elevated in blood tests

Symptoms:
• Chest pain or pressure
• Pain radiating to left arm, jaw, neck, or back
• Shortness of breath
• Sweating, nausea, dizziness

ECG findings:
• No ST elevation
• May show ST depression or T-wave inversion

Diagnosis:
• Clinical symptoms
• Positive troponin
• ECG changes

Treatment (basic overview):
• Aspirin + Clopidogrel
• Heparin
• Beta-blockers
• Statins
• Oxygen if needed
• Early coronary angiography ± stent
