Human Rights Day, December 10, reminds us that the very foundation of humanity is based on the highest principles of respect, equality, justice and freedom. This day is not just about celebrating a date, but rather about being a voice for all those whose fundamental rights have been violated, who have been victims of injustice, oppression and exploitation, and who have not yet been able to access justice. This day calls us to collective duties, responsibilities and a renewed commitment to create a society where every human being is equal, every citizen has the right to speak their mind and everyone has the right to live with dignity and respect.
The protection of human rights is not only the responsibility of institutions but of the entire nation. Until every individual in society has the right to justice, education, health, freedom of expression, religious freedom, equal employment opportunities and self-respect, human rights cannot be fulfilled. The true development of a nation does not come from wealth or power, but from the security and dignity of its citizens. If the weaker sections of society are not protected, all claims of development prove meaningless.
On this day, we should also resolve that standing against oppression is not weakness but the greatest strength of humanity. Those nations attain greatness that protect their weak, that prioritize the rights of children, women, the elderly, workers, minorities and the deprived classes. The struggle for human rights demands that we not only respect these principles but also play a practical role in their protection and implementation.
Even today, countless people around the world, including Pakistan, are deprived of their fundamental rights. In such circumstances, the responsibility of human rights activists, institutions and organizations increases even more to be the voice of the oppressed, provide them with legal, social and moral support and facilitate the path of justice. It is necessary to establish a society where justice is not delayed, the law is equal for all and every citizen is fully aware of his rights and duties.
Human Rights Day is a declaration of the fact that humanity comes first. Our religion, our tradition and our conscience teach us to treat every human being with humanity. Taking away someone’s rights, making them a victim of oppression or undermining their freedom and dignity is not only a legal crime but also a highly condemnable moral act.
Today we pledge that we will remain steadfast on every front to protect human rights. We will raise our voice against oppression, injustice and exploitation, support the weak and continue our struggle to establish a just, dignified and safe society where everyone has equal rights, protection and justice.
May Allah Almighty grant us the strength to continue to fulfill this sacred duty with sincerity, courage and responsibility. Amen.
Every year on December 10, ‘Human Rights Day’ is celebrated all over the world as a commitment to universal respect, protection and promotion of human rights.
