A Chance to Change

A Chance to Change A Chance to Change provides counseling services and programs for addiction and behavioral disorders. If you are in crisis please call 9-11 or the 2-11 Hotline.

We are an Oklahoma nonprofit Facing Mental Health, Addiction & Trauma, Creating Solutions, Celebrating Recovery. Our mission is to offer a chance to change lives affected by addictions and behavioral disorders. A Chance to Change Foundation was established in 1979 as an addiction treatment center, with an emphasis on helping the whole family. A Chance to Change Foundation operates its addiction treatment, prevention, and education programs with the understanding that chemical dependency is a chronic disease that can be treated. ACTC believes that the family is also affected and often best results come from working with the entire family. We understand that substance abuse recovery requires ongoing support, and the agency refers to support groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous, Al-Anon, and others. A Chance to Change counselors can consult with your doctor or other referral source according to your wishes. We provide complete assessments and will offer each client recommendations for the best sources of help for their individual needs. If the client has needs we cannot meet, we will help them find the right level of treatment. We strictly follow all laws and ethical standards for client confidentiality. This site is for educational information and communication purposes. Thank you and have a wonderful day!

This week, we want to give a heartfelt shout out to our Board member, Les Thomas.

We’re proud to recognize and thank Les for his 5 years of service on the Board of A Chance to Change. He’s been a consistent and supportive member, contributing his time and perspective to our mission and the people we serve.

This week marked his final board meeting with us, and while we’re sad to see him go, we’re incredibly grateful for the dedication and insight he’s shared over the years.

Thank you, Les — you’ll be missed and appreciated! 💙

One of our therapists recently presented to Mustang Middle School’s 7th grade class on Su***de Awareness and Prevention. 💙

The session covered warning signs, risk factors, healthy coping strategies, and critical resources like the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline. Students also learned how to identify trusted adults they can turn to in times of crisis.

Teaching prevention starts early. By equipping young people with this knowledge now, we help build a foundation for mental health awareness and safety that can last a lifetime.

Today is 💜 — a National Day of Action during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Our staff is proudly wearing purple to show support for survivors and to raise awareness about the impact of domestic violence in Oklahoma and beyond.

According to National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV), Oklahoma ranks among the top 10 states for domestic violence homicides, with over 115 lives lost each year due to domestic violence. More than 56% of Oklahoma women will experience sexual violence, physical violence, or stalking by an intimate partner in their lifetime.

Today, we wear purple to honor survivors and remind them: You are not forgotten. You are valued. You are never alone.💜

If you or someone you know needs help, call the 24/7 SAFELINE at 1-800-522-SAFE (7233).

When your mind feels like it’s racing, grounding can help you slow down and reconnect. 🌿

The 5-4-3-2-1 technique is a sensory-based practice that gently guides your attention back to the present moment. By tuning into what you can see, touch, hear, smell, and taste, you create space between yourself and anxious thoughts.

What makes it so effective?

It helps regulate your nervous system
Encourages mindfulness and clarity
Supports emotional stability during distress
Can ease symptoms of anxiety, flashbacks, and overwhelm

Whether you're winding down before bed, navigating a stressful moment, or simply need a reset this tool is always within reach. No equipment. No prep. Just your senses and a few quiet breaths.
