MHM Professionals Network Promoting dignified menstrual hygiene management in Pakistan

MHM Professionals Network is a platform for national and international professionals with the common goal of improving menstrual health and hygiene of adolescent girls and women across Pakistan. This initiative aims to provide the MHM practitioners in Pakistan a platform where they can project their work, promote research and action, and synergize stakeholders to create momentum on the MHM agenda. The digital network started as a Whatsapp group of approximately 200 members belonging to diverse backgrounds, from healthcare, academia, and not-for-profit organizations, to corporate sectors. This platform is managed by a group of Pakistani women scholars from universities around the globe, including Aga Khan University, Karachi University, University of Essex, Emory University, Iqra University, Johns Hopkins University, and University of Toronto.

Since the recent devastating floods hit the country’s landscape, one third of the land is under water while more than 32 million people are displaced. More than five million of these are adolescent girls and women in the menstrual age group. We urge that relief efforts must not neglect the fundamental needs of this large proportion of the population.
