β˜€οΈ Ultraviolet radiation (UVR), from the sun or sunbeds, is the main cause of skin cancer.
☒️ UVR is a proven human carcinogen, harmful to the skin, eye, & immune system.
♨️ Sunburns and intense UV exposure, especially during childhood, greatly increase the risk of skin cancer, including melanoma.

*How to protect yourself:*
πŸ”† Watch for the UV index, and use sun protection when it’s 3 or higher.
🚫 Avoid direct sun exposure between 10am - 2pm.
🧒 Wear tightly woven clothing, hats, and sunglasses.
🧴 Apply broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen and reapply often.

World Diabetes Day raises awareness of diabetes as a major global health issue and highlights the actions needed for better prevention, diagnosis, and management.

This year’s theme, β€œBreaking barriers, bridging gaps”, highlights the commitment to lowering diabetes risk and ensuring equitable, affordable, and quality care for everyone with diabetes.

In 2021, 537 million adults (20-79 years) were living with diabetes, that is 1 in 10 adults.

Diabetes was responsible for 6.7 million deaths in 2021, that is 1 death every 5 seconds.

Over 3 in 4 adults with diabetes live in low- and middle-income countries.
