Mistake Disguised As A Miracle_
“Jack!...” my mother shouted furiously as the precious vase collapsed, broken into thousands of pieces on the floor. My hands trembled, realising my mistake . I tightly gripped my football, before she snatched it from me. Eyes filled with tears, she exclaimed” It was the only memory of my dear mother.”
I knelt down attempting to gather all the pieces, my heart heavy with regret. A thick silence emerged between us until she stomped back into her room…
Later,I tried repairing the broken vase below the dim light of a small lamp which sat on the wooden yellow table, “I am so sorry, mom.” One piece after another, stacking and glueing the shards to give them the shape, fixing the result of my carelessness. Suddenly, a bright light sparked in an instant, I je**ed behind, tripping myself into the ground, got back up just to see the table empty. At that very moment, a gripping scent of wilted roses condensed. A white ,clear and sparkling smoke appeared, a figure began to coalesce, its features unclear but the eerie presence undeniable, it scattered slowly, gently like blown dust and leaving a yellow, black-edged paper behind. I was petrified. The sensation of the surroundings felt warmer and warmer.
I stood there silent, glanced at the odd and old paper. My mind went blank, not a single thought but a pulling curiosity. I leaned forward and picked it up, “Thanks to you, I am free”
I rushed to my mothers room with the paper pressed in my hand.. I told her everything, showed her the note. She looked at me, her warm hands wrapping around mine.. “We need to leave now, he might come back, we are going far away” In a soft yet panicked voice. I did as she said so, she gave me no other details..
In an hour or so, we packed our stuff and left the apartment.. Now sitting in a faded red bus, nearly empty with cold seats, under a flickering light.
With a deep breath She finally spoke “The one you freed was my mother, she had been trapped in that rusty vase for so Many years it was all a curse upon her”
My eyes widened. “how do you know about this?”
‘’I saw it happening with my own eyes dear.. She was betrayed by my father, she earned more than him and got all the fame for years..Envy got the best of him. He practised black magic,in secret, and did a curse upon her, caging her in that vase for eternity” I was speechless, she continued
"I didn't break the vase in fear, a sea of fear which I couldn't overcome, my blood ran cold every time I tried.
Jack you freed my mothers spirit which was bound with chains” tears flowing across her cheeks.
I slowly closed my eyes and leaned my head on the frosty window, smiled peacefully.
Some mistakes lead to paths, which were never possible to us.
*The end?*
