O.A. Listeria Agar

O.A. (Ottaviani & Agosti) Listeria Agar is a chromogenic selective medium used to isolate and differentiate Listeria species, especially Listeria monocytogenes, mainly in food and environmental samples.

Used according to ISO 11290 standard for food safety testing.

🎨 Colony Appearance (37°C, 24–48 hrs)

L. monocytogenes → Blue-green colonies with opaque halo
L. innocua → Blue-green colonies without halo

Amies Transport Medium with Charcoal is a semisolid, non-nutritive transport medium designed to preserve the viability of microorganisms in clinical swab specimens

🔹Purpose

Designed for collection, transport, and preservation of clinical swab specimens for bacterial culture.

Keeps organisms alive without promoting growth until you inoculate them into culture media.

Common specimen types: throat, wound, ge***al, respiratory swabs.

🔹Advantages

Charcoal improves viability: charcoal adsorbs toxic substances and helps sensitive bacteria survive during transport (e.g., ).

CLED Agar (Cystine-Lactose-Electrolyte-Deficient Agar) is a differential culture medium mainly used for isolating and identifying bacteria from urine samples.
