Eid this year was different in many ways. We tried to make memories as best as we all could.
Also, the Ghibli-style pictures have my whole heart. I am just SO grateful for the love around me. Alhamdulilah for family, for friends, for the softness in our everyday.

The last photo’s from mama’s place. No place like it. That little dining table, the plants, the light — I could sit there forever. Mama ka ghar bas… best hota hai. May she always stay healthy and happy. Ameen.

Sophia is a vet. And a fairy. At the same time. Because, obviously, why choose one when you can be everything? That’s the beauty of pretend play… no limits, no restrictions, just pure imagination growing a child’s brain like nothing else.

People worry about “brain development,” “language growth,” “problem-solving skills.” But you know what? It’s all happening right here, in these magical, ridiculous, completely unserious moments. This is where connections are built, where thinking expands multiple folds, where children learn to express, create, and explore.

And me? I’m a speech therapist. But first, I’m a mother. And today, my very important role is being the assistant to a fairy-vet on a mission only she understands.

Life doesn’t wait for us to be ready before throwing challenges our way. One moment, everything feels fine, and the next, we’re struggling to keep going. Pain, loss, disappointment, they test us in ways we never imagined.

But here’s the thing about us humans..we bend, but we don’t break. We cry, we fall apart, we wonder if we’ll ever feel okay again… and somehow, we do. We heal in the quiet moments. We find light even in the darkest places. We rise, not because it’s easy, but because we must.

So if today feels heavy, if your heart is tired, just remember, you’ve made it through every hard day before this. And even if you can’t see it yet, you’re already finding your way through this one too. 💝

When I read this quote last week in a book I bought, it sounded like a special needs child is really telling the world “You think you know what I need because you love me and want to help. But the truth is, you don’t really know what it’s like to be me. I live in this world, facing its challenges every day. If you really want to help, listen to me—let me show you what I need.”
The communication is always there, we just get too fixated on spoken words. Of course that’s my job to work on it but then again, it pains me when I see children being ignored even when they are sending messages across every minute. 💔

I talk about Gestalt Language Processing (GLP) often because many children need it. They are misunderstood and sometimes stop communicating because their efforts are ignored. This happens when therapy plans don’t match their needs. These children need to be heard and their efforts appreciated. I want teachers, therapists, and caregivers to recognize when a child—whether their own or someone else’s—is a gestalt language processor. For too long, these children have been overlooked and not given the chance they deserve. It’s time for that to change.
