⚖️ The Rise of Fake Sayyids — A Painful Truth About Forgotten Rights
The Forgotten Right of Khums and the Rise of False Claims
Across the Muslim world — from Pakistan and India to Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Libya, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nigeria, and beyond — the concept of Khums (One-Fifth Share) has been neglected, ignored, or manipulated.
The Holy Qur’ān clearly commands in Surah Al-Anfal (8:41):
“And know that whatever you gain (of any wealth), a fifth of it is for Allah, the Messenger, and the near relatives (Ahl al-Bayt), the orphans, the needy, and the traveller.”
This divine instruction is not limited to war spoils, as many interpret narrowly. It extends to all forms of lawful profit and wealth generation — including modern industries:
Fossil fuel extraction (oil, gas, LNG)
Mineral and coal mining
Natural resources such as gold, copper, honey, and gemstones
Tech, energy, and industrial production
Every Muslim-majority nation, business, or company benefiting from Earth’s natural resources is, by Islamic principle, obligated to give one-fifth (20%) of their profit as Khums — a share that belongs in part to the Sadaat (descendants of the Prophet ﷺ) and to the needy, orphans, and travellers.
Yet today, true Sadaat — the genuine descendants of the Prophet ﷺ — are deprived of even basic sustenance or opportunities, while fake claimants exploit sacred lineage for worldly prestige.
It is disgraceful when people marry into poor Sayyid families merely to acquire the title “Syed” or “Aal-e-Rasool”, without having that divine lineage.
When such impostors commit corruption or injustice, the entire name of “Sadaat” is tainted — and the real, oppressed Sadaat suffer silently.
Spiritual and Economic Betrayal
Muslim rulers, corporations, and elites have ignored the Qur’ānic obligation of Khums, while building empires on oil, gas, coal, and mineral wealth that belongs to the Ummah collectively.
Their moral duty was to ensure that a fifth of every national profit went to Allah’s cause, the Messenger, and the descendants of the Prophet ﷺ, ensuring justice and sustenance for all.
Instead, we find hypocrisy — wealth hoarded in palaces, corruption rampant, and religious titles used for personal branding.
This is a spiritual corruption deeper than any economic crime.
Real honour lies not in calling oneself “Syed,” but in truthfulness, humility, and fulfilling Allah’s commandments.
