The Bayer Pakistan Pharmaceutical team recently participated in the Karachi University Annual Pharma Connect (KUAPC) 2026, hosted by the Faculty of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Karachi.

The event brought together graduating pharmacy students to help them prepare for the realities of the professional world, not just technically, but personally as well. At Bayer, we believe that building the future starts with investing in new talent.

Khurram Mirza, Country Commercial Lead, Pharmaceutical Division, Bayer Pakistan, joined the event as a guest speaker. In his session, “Shaping the Future: The Evolution of Pakistan’s Pharmaceutical Industry and the Need for Talent Development,” Khurram spoke about how the industry is evolving, the growing expectations from healthcare, and why developing skilled, ethical, and patient-focused professionals is critical for sustainable progress in the field of healthcare.

Engaging with young, ambitious minds was a reminder of the immense potential within Pakistan’s healthcare landscape. By encouraging innovation and continuous learning, we can collectively strengthen the ecosystem and make a real difference for patients across the country.

Bayer Pakistan participated in the IBA University Karachi Career Fair, where our team connected with students keen to learn more about what we do and what a career at Bayer can look like. At our stall, we shared insights into our work across healthcare and agriculture, along with an inside look at our culture and ways of working.

Students had the opportunity to interact with professionals from different functions, ask pertaining to real life scenarios, and gain a clearer understanding of how their skills and interests could translate into meaningful careers. The conversations focused on learning, growth, and the impact our work creates every day.

We value the curiosity, energy, and ideas that early-career talent brings, and we remain focused on creating opportunities where new talent can learn, grow, and contribute meaningfully from day one.

Our eyesight shapes how we work, connect, and experience everyday life, yet it’s often taken for granted until it begins to fade. Preserving vision, especially in the face of progressive retinal conditions, requires timely diagnosis, skilled care, and continuous medical learning.

Bayer Pakistan’s Pharmaceutical Division is stepping into the future by signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the Pakistan Society of Young Ophthalmologists to jointly support and advance eye care. Through this collaboration, we aim to conduct hands-on symposia focused on training to treat Wet Age-Related Macular Degeneration (wAMD) and Diabetic Macular Edema (DME), along with the exchange of clinical best practices for ophthalmology trainees and young specialists.

These trainings will offer structured, case-based, and practical learning for medical retina specialists, strengthening their ability to interpret retinal imaging, understand treatment protocols, and build confidence in hands-on procedures.

At Bayer, we remain committed to introducing innovative therapies and advancing education for healthcare professionals, so patients can receive the right care at the right time.

Endometriosis doesn’t just impact a woman's physical health, it affects her daily life, work, and mental wellbeing too.
This is the story of Sadaf a marketing professional who balanced deadlines, meetings, and targets, all while silently managing the pain of endometriosis - until she decided to make a change. By staying aware and seeking medical care, Sadaf found answers, treatment, and support that made her life more manageable.

Sharing honest experiences like Sadaf's helps break the silence, encourages early recognition of symptoms, and reminds women that they are not alone. Endometriosis can be managed, and awareness can change lives.

If you are experiencing similar symptoms, consult your gynaecologist.

Healthcare access for women in Pakistan remains a challenge, especially in low-income or under-served areas. To mitigate this challenge, Bayer Pakistan’s Consumer Health division, in partnership with Greenstar Social Marketing (GSM), has launched a digital solution – a new, upgraded Sabz Sitara mobile app for GSM’s nationwide network of healthcare providers, including Lady Health Workers and community midwives, who work in underserved communities.

The Sabz Sitara mobile app offers several facilities including a hotline connecting healthcare providers with qualified gynecologists for real-time support on complicated cases. The app also provides a clinical information database to support better diagnosis and treatment, adverse event reporting, and facilitates seamless product procurement so that healthcare providers can spend more time focusing on their patients.

The app also includes a dedicated consumer section, allowing women to educate themselves and their families about common health conditions and better manage their everyday health and wellbeing.

This innovation strengthens women’s healthcare delivery across Pakistan, enabling faster clinical decisions, improving patient safety, and expanding access to care for millions of women, particularly in underserved communities.

The development of this app is part of an ongoing collaboration between Bayer Pakistan and GSM, launched in 2024 under the banner EmpowHer. In the first year of the EmpowHer program, over half a million women were reached with awareness and education on common intimate health conditions, and 100,000 women were provided treatment via 2,000 trained GSM Lady Health Workers.

Endometriosis affects millions of women across Pakistan, yet so many suffer in silence, thinking their pain is “normal.”

This is the story of a college student who spoke up, sought medical help, and found answers and treatment for her pain.

When women are able to share their honest experiences without shame or judgement, it helps others recognize common signs and symptoms earlier, seek care sooner, and realize that they are not alone. Endometriosis can be managed. Awareness can improve lives.

If you are experiencing similar symptoms, consult your gynaecologist.

In December, Bayer Pakistan’s Crop Science division conducted a series of stakeholder workshops in Karachi, Lahore, and Faisalabad, in collaboration with CropLife Pakistan, bringing together key agriculture stakeholders, including regulators, researchers, exporters, and industry experts, to strengthen collaboration across the agricultural sector.

The discussions focused on topics relating to residues on rice crops, including more effective management of pesticide residues by following Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) of crop protection products, which will help ensure uninterrupted rice grain trade and export, support stronger alignment with international regulatory standards, and create a more predictable, enabling environment for all industry players who rely on science-based practices. Through shared dialogue and practical insights, the sessions aimed to support responsible practices that protect market access and minimize trade disruptions while sustaining farmer productivity.

Led by Bayer regional experts Mei Choo Ho, Dr. Ahmad Rosli, and Dr. Sami Lee, the workshops reinforced the importance of science-based approaches and collective action in building long-term confidence in Pakistan’s agricultural exports. We are thankful to CropLife Pakistan and all stakeholders who participated in the workshops.

Approximately 2.2 million women in Pakistan suffer from endometriosis. Although it’s fairly common, the condition takes an average of 6–7 years to diagnose, meaning women endure years of unnecessary suffering.

Bayer Pakistan is working to change that. Yesterday, our Pharmaceutical division celebrated the launch of a new product to add to our existing women’s healthcare portfolio that will benefit women living through this condition.

No woman should have to spend years in pain waiting to be diagnosed and treated. This addition to our portfolio is a step towards earlier answers, better care, and a future where women’s pain is no longer invisible.
With a strong focus on women’s health, Bayer Pakistan remains committed to improving access to new and innovative therapies in Pakistan to enhance quality of life for patients, and to advance the overall health of the population.
