Pakistan Eye Bank Society was established in 1968 for the prevention of blindness and cure eye related diseases. Over the years it has diversified its services in Gynecology, Maxillofacial, physiotherapy and Laboratory testing. Pakistan Eye bank Society Hospital was established in 1993.The hospital is equipped with latest equipment and with capable doctors. The Society maintains its guiding principal that best available service will be provided to all in patient care, equipment, processes, compliance standard and surgery. The Society has achieved success year after year which is evident by the increasing number of patients and procedures. While providing quality medical services, we are simultaneously working on disease prevention. The Society organizes on regular basis health education seminars and workshops to educate masses about disease and its prevention. Our primary focus is on school children to detect eye related disorders at early age. We give training to teachers enabling them to detect any eye related disease amongst the children at an early age. The Society has conducted several workshops to educate women about family health. Our health education seminars has always received a good response.

A health awareness seminar was conducted at Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology, highlighting PEBS Hospital’s commitment to community wellbeing. The session featured an introduction to PEBS Hospital’s mission and services by Ms. Nusrat Jehan, followed by informative talks on mental health awareness and breast cancer awareness, emphasizing the importance of education, early detection, and timely medical care.

Through such initiatives, PEBS Hospital continues to extend its Community Outreach Program beyond hospital walls to promote health awareness in educational institutions and the wider community.

Empowering teachers to protect young vision 👁️📚
PEBS Hospital conducted a Teacher Training Program on 29th November 2025 in collaboration with the Government of Sindh, School Education & Literacy Department.
84 teachers were trained under the guidance of an experienced ophthalmologist to use the pinhole method for early identification of refractive errors in children—ensuring timely referral and better eye care outcomes.

30,000 School Students Undergo Eye Screening by Pakistan Eye Bank Society

In line with its mission to eradicate blindness, Pakistan Eye Bank Society (PEBS) has successfully completed eye screening of 30,000 school students under the School Eye Clinic Project, in collaboration with Rotary Club of Heidelberg Schloss, Germany. This marks the achievement of 50% of the annual target of screening 60,000 students. Initial findings reveal an alarming 25–28% rate of eye disorders among children, highlighting the urgent need for early eye health interventions.

To commemorate this milestone, a gratification ceremony was held at PEBS Hospital, Karachi, on December 15, 2025.
H.E. Thomas Schultze, Consul General of Germany, attended as Chief Guest and appreciated the strong collaboration between Germany and Pakistan in the social sector.
Dr. Tilman Krauch, President of Rotary Club of Heidelberg Schloss, emphasized the importance of eye health for quality education.
PEBS President Qazi Sajid Ali shared the organization’s impact since 1968 and urged the Government of Pakistan to introduce a national school health screening policy.
The event was also attended by Mr. Lance Domm, British Deputy High Commissioner, and Mrs. Katja Heusel, who appreciated PEBS’s services.

30,000 School Students Screened Under School Eye Clinic Project

Karachi, December 15, 2025: Pakistan Eye Bank Society (PEBS), in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Heidelberg Schloss, Germany, has completed eye screening of 30,000 school students under the School Eye Clinic Project, achieving 50% of its annual target of 60,000 students. Preliminary findings reveal a high prevalence of eye disorders in over 25% of children, prompting the need for further research and public health planning.

A ceremony was held at PEBS Hospital to mark the milestone. H.E. Thomas Schultze, Consul General of Germany, praised PEBS’s efforts and highlighted the importance of early eye care for children’s health and education. Dr. Tilman Krauch, President of Rotary Club of Heidelberg Schloss, reaffirmed continued support to expand the project.

Qazi Sajid Ali, President PEBS, shared the organization’s long-standing services since 1968 and urged the Government of Pakistan to introduce a national policy for early school health screening. Mr. Lance Domm, British Deputy High Commissioner, and Mrs. Katja Heusel, wife of the German Consul General, also appreciated PEBS’s services and the project’s impact.
