In this insightful conversation, Ms. Kalsoom Fatima, Clinical Psychologist, shares with Mr. Fawad Ahmed how turning our self-worth into a debate with ourselves often leads to a cycle of constant dissatisfaction.

When our worth feels like something that must be proven, we keep chasing achievements, validation, and approval. Even after reaching one goal, another appears, because the real issue was never the achievement—it was the belief that we were not enough without it.

True self-worth is not something that has to be negotiated or proven repeatedly. It is something we learn to recognize within ourselves, rather than something we earn through endless accomplishments.

In PAL’s Self-esteem Series, Clinical Psychologist Ms. Kalsoom Bodla, with host Mr. Fawad Ahmed, discusses an important misunderstanding about arrogance and self-esteem.

Many people assume that arrogance simply means having too much self-esteem. However, this is a misconception. Genuine self-esteem cannot become “too much.”

Healthy self-esteem reflects a stable and realistic sense of self-worth. It does not require putting others down or constantly proving one’s superiority.

What we often label as arrogance can sometimes be a defensive way of dealing with inner insecurity. When self-worth feels uncertain, a person may display exaggerated confidence to protect themselves from feelings of inadequacy.

Understanding this difference helps us interpret people’s behavior more accurately and develop a clearer understanding of true self-esteem.

Self-esteem is a word we hear everywhere — but many people are not really sure what it truly means. 🤔

In this conversation, Clinical Psychologist Ms. Kalsoom Bodla speaks with Mr. Fawad Ahmed to break down the real meaning of self-esteem in a simple and clear way.

Self-esteem is not just about confidence or feeling good about yourself. It has two important components:

•Self-respect – the value and regard you hold for yourself.
• Self-efficacy – the belief that you are capable of handling challenges and making decisions in your life.

When these two come together, they influence how we treat ourselves and how we allow others to treat us. When we respect ourselves, we are more likely to stand up for ourselves, set boundaries, and make choices that align with our values.

This reel is the first in a series where we will explore different aspects of self-esteem and clear up the confusion surrounding it.

Stay tuned for more conversations and insights on self-esteem. 🌱
