Reactions are instinctual and stem from the subconscious mind. There’s no filtering process when you react in a situation – you’re running on auto-pilot. When you react, you do and say things without thinking first and don’t consider the implications of what you do or say – you just act. Responses are more thoughtful. When you respond, you first explore in your mind the possible outcomes of your reply before saying a word. You may weigh the pros and cons and consider what would be best for yourself and others in the situation. Being mindfully present when responding, means you can notice when something triggers you, and you continue to observe yourself as you have an emotional response to the situation. You are able to distance yourself from the experience and watch your mind react to it. The more you can practice being calm and nonreactive, the more you invite responses rather than reactions, the better at it you become. You can do this! Xx

Be mindful when your anxiety gets triggered, identify it as soon as you can & try this technique to ground yourself. Just remind yourself to engage all five senses. Anxiety gets to the best of us but if dealt with properly, it can do us no harm. #54321

Learn to be an observer, not an absorber of your own emotions! Do not let your “feelings” define you as a person. Let them come as visitors and watch them pass you by when you simply refuse to entertain them.

When you explore pain (physical or emotional) with a non-analytical awareness, you can unravel the story that is attached to the pain. Upon this enlightenment, the pain seizes to affect you the way it did before because you can avoid triggers consciously and have accepted it for what it is, not what it will linger on to be. You have the power to categorise it as merely an experience that can no longer harm you...just tap into your inner self. It can be intense & uncomfortable at first but with time once you familiarise yourself with the observations, you will begin to realise it no longer controls you the way it used to. Simply notice & release.

Brushing the lush green grass with my hand gave me a sense of belonging as the tingling sensation of connection with the surface travelled through my body! I invite you to engage one or two senses during any activity and pay attention to how it feels when you do.

If you could just tune in, engage your sense of hearing & unwind to the healing sound of nature you would find that in the silence the hills have a story to tell you!
