Beets are rich in a unique source of phytonutrients called betalains, which have powerful antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and detoxification properties. They’re also rich in nitrates, which help muscles use oxygen more efficiently.

Liver and bile can be protected and strengthened by substances such as betaine and folic acid present in beetroot. The positive influence on the bile ducts, which are kept free by the plant substances, improves digestion and toxins can be excreted from the body more efficiently.

Exactly these two substances also help our body to lower homocysteine levels and thus protect against diseases such as heart attacks and strokes. Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease are also increasingly associated with high homocysteine levels - incorporating beetroot into our daily diet can, therefore, be a real "health booster".

Most of my clients want a black and white answer. What is healthy? What isn't? What should i eat?...

But i choose not to categorize food into "good" or "bad" . I don't believe that food has moral value. Similarly when we define food as "clean" that implies another food is "dirty". I see too many women beat themselves up over their food chices, or judge others through a strict definition.

However, I can help you find food that provides the most nutrition. Instead of focusing on foods that you can't or shouldn't eat, I'd rather encourage you to think about foods that nourish you, provide lots of nutrients and energy.

Dark chocolate🍫 contains 50-90% cocoa solids, cocoa butter, and sugar. Cocoa is rich in plant chemicals called flavanols that may help to protect the heart❤️. Dark chocolate contains up to 2-3 times more flavanol-rich cocoa solids than milk chocolate.

Flavanols have been shown to support the production of nitric oxide (NO) in the endolethium (the inner cell lining of blood vessels) that helps to relax the blood vessels and improve blood flow, thereby lowering blood pressure 💯.

Choose 70% dark chocolate or higher to obtain the most flavanols. Though keep in mind that the higher the percentage of cocoa solids, the greater the bitter flavor.

Store in a cool dry area (65-70 F) in a tightly sealed container. If stored properly, dark chocolate will last up to two years.

Managing PCOS like it's type 2 diabetes is such an oversimplified approach. PCOS is first and foremost condition characterized by hormonal imbalances. Type 2 diabetes is a condition characterized by poorly controlled blood sugar.

To manage PCOS you need to reduce the demand for insulin and tame Inflammation with specific nutrients. In type 2 diabetes we need to lower blood sugar by reducing or replacing carbs throughout the day. Just remember that while most women with PCOS do have insulin resistance, your blood sugar can still be normal.

Ever been told by your doctor to just cut carbs, and your PCOS will go away? OR, were given advice such as "don't eat anything white because that's all sugar"? Next time someone tells you that carbs are the cause of all evil in the world and the reason your PCOS is getting worse, you can confidently say "That is simply not true" 🤦‍♀️

When it comes to eating whole fruits and vegetables versus juicing, the whole fruit is clearly superior in nutritional value❗
Consumption of fruit juice is associated with an increased risk of Type 2 diabetes, but eating that same fruit reduces the diabetes risk. Eating apples reduces cholesterol, but apple juice doesn’t. Drinking juiced fruit in childhood is associated with increased obesity, and eating the same fruit is not.

The fiber in fruit contains polyphenols, which are antioxidant, free radical-scavenging, cancer-fighting chemicals. These are lost during juicing when the pulp is discarded. After you take out the fiber, you have sugar water with high levels of certain vitamins. Surprisingly, adding back the pulp does not equal the value of the whole fruit. The research that juice + pulp does not equal whole fruit is probably meaningful only in commercial operations, not in your kitchen💯
So, its the right time to swap your habits & choices✌🏻
