DESCRIPTION: A perennial herb, rhizome erect bearing fleshy ovate or pyriform or elongated branches, roots and leaves. Leaves oblong[lanceolate, tapering to the base, up to 1.2 m or more arising in tufts, petiole about as long as the blade. DESCRIPTION
Tall woody bamboo, stems thorny, numerous, tufted, up to 40 m tall, curving at top; branches numerous, internodes 30–45 cm long, prominent, bearing in lower parts of stems dense half whorls of stiff, naked, horizontal branches, armed with 2–3 recurved, stout spines; lowest nodes rooting; stem-sheaths leathery, orange-yellow when young, hairy outside, shining and ribbed inside, 30–45 cm long; blade triangular, glabrous, covered with a brown felt of bristly hairs inside; leaves thin, linear, up to 20 cm long, glabrous above, hair beneath; leaf-sheaths hairy, small; inflorescence an enormous panicle, often occupying the entire stem; branchlets loose clusters of pale, glabrous spikes.

DESCRIPTION: A tall, robust, herbaceous perennial, 40-120 cm in height. Stem ascending, woolly or tormentose. Leaves leathery, or thick, orbicular or elliptic ovate, villous, rugose or wrinkled. Flowers whitish, small, in dense axillary whorls, faintly rugose.

ZOOLOGICAL NAME: Anguilla roastrata LeSueur.

DESCRIPTION: The toxic serum of the Eel, a ray-finned fish with long, slender snake like body, laterally compressed at the posterior end, and reaching a length of 0.6 meter. The scales are minute and embedded in the yellowish- brown skin, thus giving it a smooth appearance. Eel serum is a yellowish to greenish –yellow, opalescent liquid, it may be pink due to a slight haemolysis.
DISTRIBUTION: Occupies most of the rivers of eatern North America from the southern Great Plains to the Atlantic Coast, from southern Greenland and Labrador to northern South America, and in the Missippi Valley as far north as MINNESOTA and South America.
PART USED: The serum. Pure Eel serum should not be stored, and attenuations up to 3x should be prepared without delay, with isotonic sodium chloride solution.

DESCRIPTION: A creeping, somewhat pubescent, perennial herb, often forming a dense matted ground cover. The square stems and opposite leaves are very aromatic when crushed. The leaves are long-petioled and rounded or kidney-shaped, about 37 mm wide, bluntly pointed, and deeply cordate at the base. The flowers occur in groups of 2-3 in the leaf-axils, from February to July. The corolla is purplish-blue in color.

DESCRIPTION: A tree with erect branches and thickish, alternate, lanceolate, entire, sub-coriaceous, 10-25 cm long, leaves crowded towards the points of the branches and directed upward. The flowers are white, with rose-colored tinge on the outside and a red circle around the mouth, and occur in large, terminal cymes, each supported by a circle of bracts.
