October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a global campaign dedicated to promoting early detection, timely treatment, and patient education. October ends, but our commitment to spreading awareness and supporting access to quality healthcare in this respect continues.

In Pakistan, breast cancer remains the most common cancer among women, affecting one in every nine. However, early detection greatly improves survival rates, with up to 90% survival when diagnosed early and 60% in stages I and II.

🎀 چھاتی کے کینسر سے آگاہی — Breast Cancer Awareness 🎀

🇵🇰 پاکستان میں صورتحال

چھاتی کا کینسر پاکستان میں خواتین میں سب سے عام کینسر ہے۔

2022 میں تقریباً 30,682 نئی کیسز رپورٹ ہوئیں — جو خواتین کے تمام کینسرز کا 31.3٪ ہیں۔

کراچی کے اعداد و شمار کے مطابق شرحِ واقعات 2004 میں 24.7 فی 100,000 سے بڑھ کر 2015 میں 45.4 فی 100,000 تک پہنچ گئی۔

زیادہ تر کیسز دیر سے تشخیص ہوتے ہیں، جس کی وجوہات میں آگاہی کی کمی، شرم و جھجھک، مالی مسائل، اور علاج تک محدود رسائی شامل ہیں۔

تحقیقی جائزوں کے مطابق سب سے بڑی رکاوٹیں ہیں: آگاہی کی کمی، رسائی کے مسائل، سماجی دباؤ، اور خوف۔

🩺 خلاصہ: پاکستان میں چھاتی کے کینسر کا بوجھ تیزی سے بڑھ رہا ہے، مگر بروقت تشخیص سے ہزاروں زندگیاں بچائی جا سکتی ہیں۔

✅ جلد تشخیص کیوں ضروری ہے؟

اگر سرطان جلدی مرحلے پر پکڑا جائے تو علاج زیادہ مؤثر ہوتا ہے اور صحت یابی کے امکانات بہت بڑھ جاتے ہیں۔

عالمی مطالعات کے مطابق اسکریننگ (میموگرام وغیرہ) کینسر سے اموات میں واضح کمی لا سکتی ہے۔

امریکن کینسر سوسائٹی (ACS) اور دیگر بین الاقوامی ادارے مشورہ دیتے ہیں کہ خواتین کو 40 سال کی عمر کے بعد باقاعدہ میموگرام کروانا چاہیے۔

صحت مند خواتین میں میموگرام جاری رکھنے کا مشورہ اس وقت تک دیا جاتا ہے جب تک متوقع عمر دس سال یا اس سے زیادہ ہو۔

🔍 کیا خود معائنہ (Breast Self-Examination) فائدہ مند ہے؟

خود معائنہ (BSE) ایک آسان اور مفت طریقہ ہے جس سے خواتین اپنی چھاتی کی معمولی حالت سے واقف رہ سکتی ہیں۔

اگرچہ سائنسی شواہد یہ نہیں دکھاتے کہ صرف BSE کرنے سے اموات کم ہوتی ہیں، مگر یہ ایک مفید آگاہی کا ذریعہ ہے۔

پاکستان میں تحقیق کے مطابق صرف 28.7٪ خواتین باقاعدگی سے خود معائنہ کرتی ہیں۔

تعلیم اور آگاہی سے یہ شرح بڑھائی جا سکتی ہے — یعنی اگر خواتین کو تربیت دی جائے تو وہ زیادہ باقاعدگی سے خود معائنہ کرنے لگتی ہیں۔

نتیجہ: خود معائنہ مکمل حل نہیں، مگر ابتدائی تبدیلیاں پہچاننے میں بہت مددگار ہے۔ کسی بھی غیر معمولی علامت پر فوراً ڈاکٹر سے رجوع کریں۔

🏥 طبی معائنہ اور میموگرام

کلینیکل بریسٹ ایگزامینیشن (CBE):
تربیت یافتہ ڈاکٹر یا نرس ہاتھ سے چھاتی کا معائنہ کرتے ہیں تاکہ گلٹیاں یا غیر معمولی تبدیلیاں معلوم ہو سکیں۔
کم وسائل والے ممالک میں یہ ایک مؤثر اور قابلِ عمل اسکریننگ طریقہ سمجھا جاتا ہے۔

میموگرام (Mammogram):
ایک خصوصی شعاعی ٹیسٹ ہے جو چھاتی میں انتہائی چھوٹی تبدیلیاں یا خلیاتی بے ترتیبی ظاہر کرتا ہے جو ہاتھ سے محسوس نہیں ہوتیں۔

📋 رہنما اصول:

40 سے 44 سال کی عمر کی خواتین: ڈاکٹر سے مشورے کے بعد میموگرام شروع کریں۔

45 سے 54 سال کی خواتین: ہر سالانہ میموگرام کروائیں۔

55 سال یا اس سے زیادہ: ہر دو سال بعد یا سالانہ، اپنی صحت کے مطابق۔

پاکستان میں ابھی قومی اسکریننگ پروگرام محدود سطح پر ہے، اس لیے شہری سطح کے فری کیمپس (جیسے لاہور کیئر ہسپتال یا Pink Ribbon کے مراکز) سے فائدہ اٹھائیں۔

📝 خواتین کے لیے رہنما اصول

1. ماہانہ خود معائنہ:
ہر ماہ ایک مقررہ دن رکھیں (مثلاً پہلی تاریخ) اور آئینے کے سامنے اپنی چھاتی کو دیکھیں اور نرمی سے چھو کر محسوس کریں۔
اگر کوئی گلٹی، سوجن، رنگت میں تبدیلی، نِپل سے قطرہ آنا، یا جلد پر جھری محسوس ہو تو فوراً ڈاکٹر سے رابطہ کریں۔

2. سالانہ / دو سالہ طبی معائنہ:
عمر 40 کے بعد، ڈاکٹر سے مشورے کے تحت میموگرام اور CBE کروائیں۔

3. خود آگاہی:
اپنی صحت کے بارے میں باخبر رہیں — کوئی بھی تبدیلی معمولی نہ سمجھیں۔

4. فوری اقدام:
دیر نہ کریں — جلد تشخیص آپ کی زندگی بچا سکتی ہے۔

5. مفت کیمپس اور آگاہی پروگرام:
اپنے شہر میں ہونے والے مفت معائنہ یا آگاہی دن میں ضرور شامل ہوں۔

Lahore Care Hospital is honored to have been selected by the Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) as one of the 75 hospitals undergoing a surveillance audit out of the 250 public and private sector hospitals presently registered and fully licensed with the Commission.

This audit is an important step in ensuring compliance with PHC’s Minimum Service Delivery Standards (MSDS), reinforcing the hospital’s commitment to quality healthcare and patient safety. The audit was conducted by Platinum Consultants, an independent third party engaged by PHC, who deployed a team of external auditors to evaluate implementation of the Commission’s standards.

The HPV vaccine is safe, free, and effective and girls aged 9–14 years will be vaccinated from 15–27 September 2025, in schools, madrassas, and health facilities across Punjab, Sindh, AJK and Islamabad.
