The Concept of the Children’s Hospital & the institute of Child Health, Lahore was presented in the annual meeting of Pakistan Paediatric Association in 1984, foundation stone was laid down in 1990, OPD Block was operationalized in May, 1995 and emergency services were started in October, 1996. The Children’s Hospital has been providing inpatient services since December 18, 1998. The hospital provides a wide range of services both inpatient and outpatient, with full backup of diagnostic services. The Institute of Child Health is providing post graduate training to very large number of doctors in multiple disciplines as well as conducting research projects. The institute also encompasses the School of Nursing and the School of Allied Health Sciences.

The Department of Haematology & Transfusion Medicine, University of Child Health Sciences, The Children’s Hospital, Lahore, in collaboration with Sundus Foundation, successfully organized a Pre-PAP Conference Seminar on “Haemoglobinopathies: Diagnostic Challenges and Role of NGS” attended by more than 70 participants in person and more than 100 virtually.

The seminar featured distinguished speakers who delivered insightful presentations on advances in the diagnosis and management of haemoglobinopathies, including genetic testing, safe transfusion practices, and the role of next-generation sequencing (NGS). The event was graced by Prof. Dr. Sajid Maqbool as Cheif guest Prof. Dr. Masood Sadiq and Prof. Dr. Junaid Rashid , Prof. Dr. Nisar Ahmed, Prof. Dr. Samina Naeem, Prof. Dr. Joveria Mannan, as Guests of honor.

Heartfelt thanks were extended to all the honourable speakers for their valuable contributions and engaging discussions, which greatly enriched the academic experience for participants.

The seminar, organized under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Saima Farhan and coordinated by Dr. Neelam Mazhar, provided an excellent platform for clinicians, researchers, and postgraduate trainees to exchange knowledge and explore innovations in haemoglobinopathy diagnostics.

2nd International Pediatric Rheumatology Symposium – RheumaPED 2
Organized by the Dept. of Pediatric Medicine / Pediatric Rheumatology, UCHS–CHL, held on 4th Oct 2025 at Sajid Maqbool Auditorium.

A well-attended hybrid event with 100+ participants from across Pakistan including pediatricians, rheumatologists, nurses & allied health professionals.

Honoured by Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal (President CPSP, VC FJMU) who inaugurated the event and appreciated the department’s efforts in developing Pediatric Rheumatology as a CPSP-recognized subspecialty.

Distinguished guests included Prof. Sajid Maqbool, Prof. Tahir Masood, Prof. Nighat Mir, Prof. Ahmad Saeed, Prof. Haroon Hamid, Prof. Huma Arshad Cheema, Prof. Faryad Hussain and other eminent faculty.

Keynote talks were delivered by Dr. Muthana Al-Obaidi (GOSH, London), Dr. Nadia Rafiq (Evelina London), Prof. Sumaira Farman Raja, and national experts.

The event concluded with closing remarks and shield distribution by Prof. Masood Sadiq (VC UCHS) and Prof. Junaid Rashid (Dean/Pro-VC UCHS).

An orientation session on MSDS was held on 1st October 2025 at The Children’s Hospital, University of Child Health Sciences, Lahore, in collaboration with the Punjab Healthcare Commission.

Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed (Director Clinical Governance) along with Dr. Imtiaz Ali, (Deputy Director, Standards Development & Dissemination) PHC, delivered comprehensive talks covering key functional areas of MSDS aimed at capacity building and improving quality of care and services by healthcare professionals.

The session was graced by the presence of the Dean, Medical Director, CQI Cell Chairperson, and Director Emergency, along with enthusiastic participation from postgraduate residents, fellows, nurses and the administrative team.

We were honored to host a distinguished delegation from Hopp Children’s Cancer Center, Heidelberg, Germany, led by Prof. Dr. Stefan Pfister, at the Children’s Hospital & University of Child Health Sciences, Lahore on 18th September 2025.

The team exchanged insights on the MNP Outreach Study for precise DNA methylation-based classification of CNS tumors & sarcomas, and appreciated our hospital’s contribution in advancing pediatric oncology care.

🔬 Pre-Conference Workshop | 9th PPA Punjab Annual Symposium 2025
September 3, 2025, Department of Pediatric Neurology, University of Child Health Sciences, The Children’s Hospital Lahore, under the patronage of Prof. Tipu Sultan, successfully conducted a pre-conference workshop titled:
"From Neuron to Function: Mastering the Art of Lesion Localization in Neurological Practice."
This interactive session strengthened participant’s ability to apply neuroanatomy directly to clinical practice through a structured approach to lesion localization.
