We are honored to welcome Prof. Dr. Ayesha Humayun Sheikh as the new Editor-in-Chief of Proceedings, the official journal of Sheikh Zayed Medical College.

Prof. Dr. Ayesha Humayun is currently serving as the Principal of Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan Medical & Dental College, Lahore, and heads the Department of Public Health & Community Medicine at SZPGMI.
She also holds the position of Director at the Clinical Trial and Research Unit (CTRU) and serves as Advisor to the Department of Medical Education. Her outstanding contributions to medical research have earned her international recognition, including being listed among the world’s top 2% scientists by Stanford University in both 2023 and 2024.
We look forward to her visionary leadership and scholarly excellence guiding Proceedings into a new era of academic distinction.

Proceedings (SZMC) had the opportunity to attend the Editor’s Capacity Building Workshop hosted by King Edward Medical University (KEMU) in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC), and it was truly a valuable learning experience. With over 45 editors in attendance, the workshop focused on enhancing academic publishing standards across Pakistan.
Key sessions were led by notable figures such as Engr. Nouman Ahmad Khan (Director R&ID HEC), Ms. Humaira Quddus (Deputy Director R&ID HEC), Prof. Ahmad Uzair Qureshi (Director ORIC-KEMU), and Farhan Qadir (Deputy Director QEC-KEMU). The event was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Mahmood Ayyaz (VC, KEMU) and included in-depth discussions on HEC’s journal accreditation policies, indexing requirements (WoS, Scopus, PubMed), peer-review guidelines, and ethical publishing practices.
Prof. Dr. Saira Afzal (Director QEC, KEMU, Chief Editor of Annals & Dean IPH) conducted insightful sessions throughout the workshop, and Mr. Ghulam Nabi (DG, HEC Regional Center Lahore) delivered the closing remarks.
It was an excellent opportunity for Proceedings (SZMC) to align with national academic publishing standards.
