A hands-on workshop titled “Mastering Transfusion Medicine & Immunohematology” was organized by the Department of Pathology, PGMI/AMC/LGH, Lahore on 22 April 2026 Held under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal, Principal PGMI/AMC/LGH.

the workshop aimed to strengthen practical knowledge and technical skills in transfusion medicine and immunohematology.

The event was honored by the presence of Prof. Nisar Ahmed, Prof. Shabnam Bashir and Dr. Faiza Rafiq from Indus hospital network. Prof. Nazish Saqlain and Prof. Farhan Rasheed were the chief organizers.

The major component of the workshop was the hands-on practical session, during which participants were trained in blood grouping and cross matching, gel technique versus tube testing in antibody screening, routine screening versus enzyme-treated cells, and elution testing with DAT-positive cases (IgG and C3d).

The workshop provided a valuable opportunity for focused practical learning in a well-organized laboratory settings, much appreciated by the participants.

Obstetrical Emergency Workshop Successfully Conducted on 20th April by Gynae department of Lahore general hospital

An engaging and highly informative Obstetrical Emergency Workshop was conducted today under the esteemed patronage of Prof.Muhammad Farooq Afzal Principal PGMI/ AMC/LGH(Patron-in-Chief) and Prof. Nudrat Sohail (Patron).

The workshop was led with dedication by Prof. Amna Ahsan (Chief Organiser) and Prof. Amna Khanum (Organiser).

A special acknowledgment to our committed facilitators:
Dr. Lubna, Dr. Misbah, Dr. Saira, Dr shabnum,Dr. Natasha, and Dr. Fatima for delivering hands-on, practical learning sessions.

The workshop provided excellent learning opportunities for PGRs, Medical Officers, and House Officers, enhancing their skills in managing obstetrical emergencies with confidence and competence.

A truly impactful academic activity aimed at improving maternal care and clinical preparedness.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was formally signed on 23 April 2026 between PKLI and Research Centre and PGMI/ AMC/ LGH, to strengthen academic cooperation, clinical collaboration, faculty development, postgraduate training, and research activities.

The agreement reflects a shared commitment to advancing medical education, enhancing institutional capacity, and improving patient care through a strategic partnership.

Under the MoU, both institutions agreed to collaborate in key domains including teaching and training, research and academic activities, advanced diagnostic and interventional support, and clinical service delivery in specialized disciplines. These include Pathology, Vascular Interventional Radiology, Anaesthesia, Renal Transplant, Transplant Urology, Critical Care, and Gastroenterology, along with other mutually agreed areas.

The collaboration will facilitate observerships, structured clinical rotations, workshops, supervised hands-on training, joint academic sessions, case discussions, clinical audits, and ethically approved research initiatives.

The MoU also provides a framework for access to advanced facilities, while emphasizing patient safety, ethical compliance, confidentiality, and shared academic growth.

The agreement was signed on behalf of PKLI&RC by Prof. Faisal Saud Dar and on behalf of PGMI/AMC/LGH by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Farooq Afzal, marking a significant milestone in fostering meaningful inter-institutional collaboration in healthcare services, postgraduate training, and research advancement.

Faculty members and representatives from both institutions were also present on the occasion.

A meeting of the Hospital Committee was held today, 20-04-2026, at Lahore General Hospital to review administrative matters, service delivery, and operational efficiency of the hospital. 🏨

The meeting was chaired by Worthy Principal Prof. Dr. Muhammad Farooq Afzal, who emphasized the importance of administrative discipline, effective coordination, and timely decision-making to ensure smooth functioning of hospital services.

He stressed that strengthening management systems and improving patient facilitation remain key priorities of the institution. He further highlighted the need for continuous monitoring of administrative performance, prompt resolution of operational issues, and ensuring that all departments work in close coordination to maintain an efficient and patient-friendly environment.

The committee deliberated on various operational issues, including service management, resource utilization, and day-to-day administrative challenges. Practical measures were discussed to further streamline hospital processes, improve workflow, and enhance overall efficiency.

Necessary decisions were taken to enhance administrative performance, strengthen internal coordination, and ensure the effective and uninterrupted delivery of healthcare services, in line with the institution’s commitment to quality patient care.
