The Department of Emergency Medicine, in collaboration with national and international faculty, successfully conducted a Resuscitation & Trauma Management Workshop at Lahore General Hospital on 28 March 2026.

The workshop brought together postgraduate trainees and residents from Emergency Medicine, Surgery, Medicine, ICU, Anaesthesia, and Orthopaedics for an intensive hands-on learning experience.

The training featured high-fidelity simulation-based learning across multiple stations, focusing on airway management, undifferentiated shock, trauma principles, cardiac arrest management, and effective team communication. Participants actively engaged in practical scenarios designed to enhance clinical decision-making and improve patient outcomes in emergency settings.

The workshop was held under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Farooq Afzal, Principal PGMI / Ameer-ud-Din Medical College / Lahore General Hospital, with Prof. Khurram Saleem serving as Course Director.
An esteemed panel of national and international faculty from the UK, UAE, and Pakistan contributed to the academic sessions, making the workshop a highly valuable learning opportunity for participants.

Worthy Principal Prof. Dr. Muhammad Farooq Afzal appreciated the initiative and emphasized that simulation-based training is essential for strengthening emergency preparedness and improving trauma care outcomes.

HIV/AIDS Awareness, Treatment Workshop & Clinic Initiative – LGH

An HIV/AIDS Awareness & Treatment Workshop was conducted at the Department of Pediatrics, Lahore General Hospital, in Agha Shabbir Ali Auditorium, for postgraduate residents of Medicine and Allied Departments. The session aimed to enhance clinical knowledge, update participants on latest treatment guidelines, diagnostic advancements, and strengthen the role of healthcare professionals in HIV care.

Dr. Qurat ul Ain delivered a comprehensive session on treatment protocols and regimens. Mr. Azhar Hussain highlighted PACP services across Punjab, while Ms. Samar Naveed presented the role of the BSL-3 advanced diagnostic laboratory and available diagnostic facilities. Participants were also informed about government-provided free-of-cost HIV services.

The session was attended and appreciated by Principal AMC Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal and MS LGH Prof. Dr. Faryad Hussain, who acknowledged the continued support of Dr. Naveed Akhtar Malik in organizing this impactful initiative.

It was also formally announced that site allocation for a dedicated HIV clinic at Lahore General Hospital has been finalized. In collaboration with the AIDS Control Program and Primary & Secondary Healthcare Department, the clinic is expected to become operational within one week, InshaAllah.

The Department of Ophthalmology, AMC / PGMI / Lahore General Hospital, successfully inaugurated the Ophthalmology Upgradation Project on 26 March 2026 at Lahore General Hospital.

This important initiative marks a significant step forward in strengthening ophthalmic services, enhancing patient care, and improving academic training facilities.

This notable development in eye care services was made possible through the generous philanthropic contribution of PKR 35 million by Mr. Zia-ud-Din Butt, whose dedication to healthcare improvement reflects a strong commitment to community service and patient welfare. His support represents a commendable example of public-private collaboration for the advancement of healthcare services in the public sector.

The ceremony was graced by Worthy Principal PGMI/AMC/LGH, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Farooq Afzal, along with Medical Superintendent Prof. Faryad Hussain, senior faculty members, consultants, postgraduate residents, and distinguished guests.
The event was further honored by the presence of the former Heads of the Department of Ophthalmology, whose visionary leadership and academic contributions have played a vital role in the development of the department over the years:

The Ophthalmology Upgradation Project aims to enhance patient care facilities, improve diagnostic and surgical capabilities, and strengthen postgraduate training and academic activities.

The upgraded infrastructure will facilitate the delivery of modern, high-quality eye care services, particularly in advanced glaucoma management and retinal surgical procedures, significantly improving patient outcomes and expanding treatment options for complex eye diseases.

The enhanced facilities will support modern glaucoma treatment, early diagnosis, and advanced surgical interventions, along with retinal surgeries for conditions such as diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, and other sight-threatening disorders, thereby strengthening comprehensive eye care services at Lahore General Hospital.

World TB Day 2026 – Walk for Awareness
“Yes! We Can End TB”

The Department of Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine, PGMI/AMC/Lahore General Hospital, organized a World TB Day Awareness Walk on 25th March 2026 in front of OPD Block, Lahore General Hospital, to raise awareness about Tuberculosis prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment.
The event was attended by MS Prof Faryad Hussain, faculty members, doctors, nursing staff, students, and hospital administration, all united with a shared commitment to eliminate TB and promote public health awareness.

Worthy Principal PGMI/AMC/LGH, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Farooq Afzal, appreciated the efforts of the Department of Pulmonology and emphasized that:
"Tuberculosis remains a significant public health challenge. Awareness, early diagnosis, and timely treatment are the key elements in eliminating TB. Collective efforts of healthcare professionals and community participation are essential to achieve a TB-free Pakistan."

Eid day rounds were conducted at Lahore General Hospital, including the Pediatric Emergency, where the team’s efforts and patient care services were reviewed and appreciated. Lahore General Hospital celebrated Eid with thalassemia children in a heartwarming event organized by the Paediatric Department under the leadership of HOD Prof. Dr. Muhammad Shahid, spreading smiles, hope, and happiness among young patients. 💖

The ceremony was graced by worthy Principal Prof. Dr. Muhammad Farooq Afzal, along with MS Dr. Faryad Hussain and Prof. Hassan salman malik, reflecting a shared commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.
A large number of children and their families participated enthusiastically, making the celebration vibrant and memorable.
