Subject: Request for Reconsideration of Current Professional Examination Structure
Respected Sir,
With utmost respect, I, on behalf of the students, wish to draw your kind attention to several serious concerns regarding the ongoing professional examination conducted under Khyber Medical University.
It has been observed that multiple aspects of the examination do not align with the approved syllabus, recommended textbooks, KMU Learning Objectives (LOs), or standard assessment guidelines. The major issues are as follows:
1. Non-adherence to the approved blueprint:
The examination papers did not follow the prescribed blueprint, resulting in an imbalanced distribution of topics. Some subjects were over-represented while others were entirely omitted, compromising the fairness of the assessment.
2. MCQs not from recommended 3rd-year textbooks / out of curriculum:
A large number of questions did not originate from any standard 3rd-year MBBS textbooks. Many were unrelated to the taught syllabus, while several belonged to previous or future blocks not yet covered, placing students at a clear disadvantage.
3. Not aligned with KMU LOs:
Multiple questions were not in accordance with the KMU-approved Learning Objectives for 3rd year, raising concerns regarding the academic validity of the exam.
4. Unusually lengthy and confusing MCQs — likely AI-generated:
Many MCQs had excessively long stems and unusually complex, verbose options—patterns not typically seen in human-created university exam questions. Such structure strongly suggests that several items may have been generated using AI tools, which is not consistent with KMU’s assessment standards.
5. Incorrectly constructed MCQs (double correct / no correct options):
Several questions contained more than one correct option, while some had no correct option at all. These flawed MCQs further compromised the reliability, clarity, and fairness of the exa
