Capacity Building Workshop – Day 3 Highlights
Primary Trauma Care (PTC)
Organized by the Post Graduate Medical Institute (PGMI) in collaboration with the Project Management and Implementation Unit (PMIU) under the Health Department, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Day 3 of the Capacity Building Workshop on Primary Trauma Care (PTC) featured a series of insightful presentations followed by practical hands-on training sessions.
The morning began with Dr. Samir Khan Kabir, Spine Surgeon at HMC Orthopedics, delivering presentations on Introduction to PTC, Primary Care, and Secondary Survey, highlighting systematic approaches to trauma assessment.
Dr. Shehryar, In-charge ICU at LRH, MDI, presented an engaging session on Airway and Breathing, focusing on early recognition and management of airway compromise.
Dr. Muhammad Shah, Assistant Professor of Surgery at HMC, delivered a comprehensive presentation on Circulation, emphasizing rapid response and hemodynamic stabilization in trauma care.
The second half of the day featured practical, hands-on skill sessions that allowed participants to apply their learning in real-time scenarios —

2️⃣ Chest Tube Intubation facilitated by Dr. Muhammad Shah
3️⃣ Log Rolling Technique supervised by Dr. Samir Khan Kabir
The workshop continues to strengthen trauma management capacity and clinical readiness among healthcare professionals across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa — a major step forward under the PGMI–PMIU MoU in collaboration with the Health Department, KPK.
