𝐌𝐫. Habibullah Khan Biotechnologist, Department of Pathology at Khyber Medical College have successfully defended his PhD thesis titled “Whole Genome Sequencing and Comparative Genomic Analysis of Highly Resistant Staphylococcus aureus Isolates from a Tertiary Care Hospital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.”

The research focused on advanced genomic investigation of highly resistant Staphylococcus aureus strains using whole genome sequencing, contributing valuable insights into antimicrobial resistance patterns in a tertiary care healthcare setting.

He conducted his doctoral research under the supervision of 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐃𝐫. 𝐒𝐲𝐞𝐝 𝐅. 𝐉𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐥 at Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan and 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐃𝐫. 𝐀𝐦𝐣𝐚𝐝 𝐀𝐥𝐢 at the Atta-ur-Rehman School of Biosciences, National University of Sciences and Technology NUST, Islamabad.

This milestone reflects sustained commitment to scientific innovation, institutional development, and healthcare advancement in the region.

The 𝐌𝐨𝐜𝐤 𝐄𝐱𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐈𝐌𝐌 𝐎𝐩𝐡𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐦𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 was successfully conducted at the Eye Department, Khyber Teaching Hospital - MTI KTH Peshawar, on 27th February 2026, reflecting our continued commitment to academic excellence and structured postgraduate training.

In recognition of 𝐋𝐨𝐰 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 this February, the Ophthalmology Department of 𝐌𝐓𝐈-𝐊𝐓𝐇 organized an impactful awareness walk the chief guests being Dean KMC, along with 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐃𝐫. 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐡𝐭𝐚𝐪 𝐀𝐡𝐦𝐚𝐝 at Khyber Medical College to reinforce the importance of early detection and timely intervention.

The initiative was led by 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐃𝐫. 𝐈𝐦𝐫𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐡𝐦𝐚𝐝 Chairman Ophthalmology Department 𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐃𝐫. 𝐒𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐚 𝐒𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢, 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐭. 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐃𝐫. 𝐁𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐥 𝐊𝐡𝐚𝐧, 𝐌𝐬. 𝐀𝐧𝐬𝐚 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐳𝐢𝐫 (Low Vision Therapist), and dedicated TMOs and MOs, demonstrating strong departmental alignment toward patient advocacy and community outreach.

Dean KMC 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐃𝐫. 𝐌𝐚𝐡𝐦𝐮𝐝 𝐀𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐳𝐞𝐛 commended the department for spearheading the campaign and emphasized the need to establish an Ophthalmology Interest Group for students. He reaffirmed full administrative support to further strengthen academic engagement and awareness-driven initiatives.
