Salaam/Hi

A massive thank you to everyone who attended and supported the Abaseen Foundation charity dinners in Lancaster and Blackburn last week.

The events were a huge success with over 250+ people attending and approximately £95,000 was raised in commitments to our various projects.

A special thank you to all the 'special' people who have generously, sincerely and wholeheartedly supported the events, from the inception, by repeatedly advertising amongst their networks and bringing people with them on the nights.
And to all those who presented on the nights and the volunteers who gave their their precious time. Thank you Zain Jerry for the amazing hosting at Blackburn and to Zaheer and Faiz for the beautiful nasheeds.

The success of Abaseen Foundation is heavily reliant on all of you. Success is and will always be a team effort and your continuous support is positively changing the lives of children and families in NW P**istan.

Regards
Abaseen Foundation

Flood relief activities in Mandoree village, district charsadda, Peshawar. (2010)

Mandoree village, situated at the junction of River Swat and River Khiali in District Charsada , was home to 1800 individuals living in three hundred houses. Its people were caught unaware the night of the floods. Everyone had to run for safety but the rapidly rising level of the water drowned some of the old persons and the children. Some families saved themselves by climbing on the roof tops where they remained for 2-3 days when they were rescued by the army.

AF team lead by Mr. Obaid Ullah during their visit to the village identified the worst flood affected families of the village and invited the heads of the 50 households to ESH Nahaqi for cash distribution and to share their ordeal of the night of floods.

Relief and rehabilitation services were provided in the flood torn village of Jala Bela, district Peshawar in 2010.

We distributed 50 family packs of non- food items which included cooking pots, TAWA (bread cooking pans), water coolers, mattresses and pillows, water cans, cups, glasses, slippers, tubs and 210 bags of fodder for the starving animals. The Chief Executive and other members of AF also took part in relief operations and the local community was grateful for helping them in need of the hour.

Provision of health care was provided through the emergency satellite hospital nahaqi and outreach teams. Furthermore, the Diarrhea Treatment Centre (DTC) at Nahaqi Hospital was kept operational throughout the monsoon period.

Restoration of the water channel in Barthana village, Swat.

The 2008 floods washed most things away including the source of income of many farmers, this too after the recent incursion of taliban in the area that had to be dealt with by an army operation that demanded the sacrifice of evacuation and living as IDPs of the villagers of Barthana. One of the devastating effects of the flood was the destruction of the water channel which was the only source of irrigation for the farms of the village. Furthermore, the local stream bed sunk by 15 feet due to the disastrous flood.
A project was launched with the objective of reconstructing the water channel of Barthana, after meeting with the local 'jirga' as soon as possible in an attempt to help the farmers restore their water-source.
