A bloody dump Truck in Pindi Bhattian took another life. This kind of news keeps appearing in news papers.I become very sad after hearing such news. (I have a Bachelor in Civil Engineering From the University of Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan and Master in Transportation Engineering from UET Lahore Punjab, Pakistan and I am worked in Road Safety education Unit in National Highways and Motorways Police, Pakistan) The purpose of the introduction is that I am more aware of accidents and incidents than the general public. Now I would like to give my opinion on how we people who live on the earth and use Road Transport, can practically avoid accidents. Let me tell you there is nothing we humans can do to avoid accidents. Accident and Incident are two different words. Preventing an accident is beyond the power of man. It is not a human fault, but we can prevent an incident because it involves human fault. Now I address the Media and Social Media representatives to write the word accident if there is an accident on the road, write the word incident if it is a human fault. We have to reduce the incident rate to zero in World. You Media and Social Media representatives can do the most. Become a Road Safety Ambassador and convey the message of road safety to the people of World. Tell people not to use mobile phones while walking or driving on the road, Wear a helmet on a motorcycle. Don't go too fast. Since Dump Trucks are often involved in incidents, it should be imperative for the driver of the dump Truck to undergo regular road safety training for 5 days a year. This training is conducted at Motorway Police Training College, Punjab, Pakistan. We people of World should make it compulsory for the truck depots and unions to conduct 5 days training of Dump Truck drivers every year. It can save human life. We People of World desperately need to work in practice to reduce the incident rate to zero. And save human lives.
