A Surgical Symposium regarding 'Management of Challenging Surgical Diseases/Cases Performed at Surgical Unit-1 under the Supervision of Prof Dr Syed Muhammad Saleem Agha' was conducted at PGMI Hall, Sandeman Provincial Hospital, Quetta.
The occasion was graced by Dr.Khushnood Naseeb, Director CENAR Hospital, Quetta and Dr.Feroz Achakzai, Oncologist fron CENAR Hospital. Other honourable guests besides Surgical Unit-1 Speakers were Prof Dr Shoaib Qureshi HoD SU-2, General Surgeon Dr.Abdullah Khan and their Consultant Team from their Surgical Unit.
Speakers presented a variety of cases and surgeries performed at Surgical Unit-1 like Transhiatal for CA Esophagus, Diverticulectomy for Zenker's Diverticulum, Whipple's Procedure for CA Head of Pancreas, Laproscopic Cholecystectomies for Complicated Gallbladder Cases, Distal Pancreatectomy plus Splenectomy for CA Body and tail of Pancreas and last but not the least Total Esophagectomy followed by Transpositioning of Colon for Extended Stricture secondary to Corrosive Esophageal Injuries.
The participants discussed the resource deficiencies in particular and stressed that all these surgeries are being performed in deficient and under resourced setup which needs strengthening and improvement. Director CENAR appreciated the great efforts being put by all Surgical Team Faculty in perforimg such major surgeries and pledged to make joint multidisciplinary approach for the adjuvant and neoadjuvant modalities with the Surgical Departments in future for patients welfare and treatment.
