Chief Editor of Journal of Pakistan Psychiatric Society. Professor Rana is the Chairman, The Healing Triad-Pakistan, and the Adjunct Chair of Department of Behavioural Sciences of University of Health Sciences, Lahore. He is recipient of Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Star of Excellence) in the field of health from the Government of Pakistan. Presently, in 2020, he is the Chair of the Task Force of Pakistan Red Crescent Covid 19 Response, Member of the Cover 19 Steering Committee of Higher Education Commission Pakistan and the National Task Force on Covid 19 of World Health Organisation in Pakistan.
